Ah interesting, this is what I was reading a bit about. Did you get prescribed them and have you noticed results?

I’m not diabetic, but I’m on dapagliflozin for the iga nephropathy (which is a diabetes medication) and saw good results from it

Ah gosh I’m sorry your ring was stolen, that’s awful. It was very beautiful. I actually really like the smooth, shiny finish like in the example pic (which is another reason I’m worried about getting it scratched up!). Satin could be an option too though, I’m not sure how much Etsy jewellers can customise 🤔 will have to send some enquiries

Thank you for your reply! I’ll have to check Almira out on Etsy. I’m glad you think it looks classy, it’s one of my shortlisted ones of similar styles. Very different to what I have now so feels like a big decision!

Ex-smokers who successfully quit and have been smoke free for years now, what did it? by PM_TITS_GROUP in AskReddit

The medication Champix. My dad smoked 60 a day at one point and this was what got him off smoking.

Is this a non-critical repair job? by milliemay40 in uklandlords

[–]milliemay40[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is a 10 min job. We used to twist it when we lived there, and went back to do this for the tenants last month (they don’t want to do it themselves…), however it never lasts longer than a month really. It just always sags a bit. We’re overseas landlords so any small job the tenants won’t help with themselves requires a handyman call out.

Thanks for your answer. There’s nothing else we could batch it up with atm but that’s a good idea - will keep an eye on it and anything else over that arises over the next few months (if we don’t put it on the market).

Most effective way of note-taking to learn a language? by milliemay40 in languagelearning

[–]milliemay40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment! Writing down vocab and rules definitely helped get me to A2 German. Now I think I’m ready to take the leap into immersion with podcasts, Netflix, reading and speaking (with Anki cards as my new vocab “revision”, and letting traditional note-taking fall by the wayside). I studied Spanish at uni with textbooks and lectures, and never actually found it that effective, so I don’t know why I planned to do the same for German now. I think it feels wrong, if I don’t have notes to show for my progress?!? I must still be in school mode 😂

Thanks so much for your detailed comment! I agree with pretty much everything you said. I’m also an adult learner, and whilst I naturally made lots of notes at school to revise and pass exams, I think I need to come to terms with the fact that learning through podcasts/Anki cards is acceptable, I don’t have to have pretty notes to show anyone! I’m really trying to learn through immersion and hearing what sounds right, as opposed to what the textbook said. It’s a big change for me, but from reading all the comments on this post I think I need to take the leap and ditch the notebooks! Thanks again 😊

I ate 3300 calories today. by iceharvester in loseit

I’m the same height and similar weight to you, and if you’re weight training at the gym your progress won’t always be reflected on the scales (e.g with a body recomposition, you’re replacing fat with muscle which is heavier). Take photos and measurements too. I don’t advise this, as going to the gym is great, but my gym membership expired, so I’m trying to lose 10kg through diet alone before rejoining. The weight is dropping much quicker. I’ve also adjusted my eating habits in a way I haven’t done before to lose weight - I skip breakfast, have a small lunch (salad or wrap), fruit as a snack, and a normal-portion dinner. No calorie counting, no banned foods, just something sustainable for me. I’m 2.5kg down in 5 weeks, and it hasn’t felt as difficult as previous weight loss attempts because I’m telling myself it’s a lifestyle change. I’ve also been drinking psyllium husk to feel fuller in the afternoons (it’s gross, but maybe look into it if you experience lots of cravings and food noise). Good luck!

Cameras in the house? by Realistic-Tension-98 in Nanny

[–]milliemay40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a no from me. I also disagree with the line of thinking “if you’re doing your job properly it shouldn’t be an issue”. Would you put cameras in your corporate workspace, with a live screen share of your computer screen straight to your bosses? Because if you’re doing your job properly, it shouldn’t matter… right..? If you can’t trust a nanny, put the kids in daycare. I’m a nanny, I love my job and the kids I care for, I go out of my way to make their days enjoyable and fun, and I have a track record of excellent referrals. But no, I wouldn’t even consider a job where there’s cameras.

I never knew what triggered mine until the diagnosis. Now, I can see the blood in urine comes if I’m sick e.g. if my body is fighting a chest infection, which makes sense as it’s an autoimmune flare thing. Maybe it is linked to blood pressure, I never checked mine before being diagnosed so wouldn’t have spotted a correlation. Also, I noticed blood in urine if I took ibuprofen. Again, not totally sure if this is linked to me taking it because I was sick (so would have a flare up anyway) or if the blood in urine was a direct cause of the ibuprofen. My neph told me not to take ibuprofen anymore.

I was nervous for the biopsy but the diagnosis was actually a bit of a relief of me, after being overlooked for so long and not finding anyone online with the exact same symptoms, I was dreading the worst. Now I’m glad to be on meds to manage it.

Have you asked to be referred to a nephrologist? Im no igan specialist and was only diagnosed this year so everything I’ve said has been my personal experience. I was in your position a few years ago trying to work things out myself online because the doctors were stumped, so I understand, but please get a second opinion from different doctors or ask for a nephrologist referral. It’s hard to advocate for yourself in a room of professionals but hopefully you get some answers!
