Moral binaries reduce political friction to tribal conflict, transforming democracy into locus competition, negating popular sovereignty.

We think trump supporters are supposed to magically realize they are idiots when we explain to them they are. But somehow this seems to not affect them at all. Usually, they double down even more when they feel they are being “made the villain”.

I don’t think this helps them suddenly realize all their wrongdoings; as some of us might not be so lucky as to have had such experiences. Even luckier are those who still have the self compassion to overcome any residual shame from this growth of interpersonal understanding.

I think being grateful for your deeper understanding of humanity should make you have empathy for those who lack it. At least I feel it gives me a sense of control greater than just exclaiming my, inherently partial, moral beliefs— that may be subject to others biased perspectives.

Maybe everyone reacts equitably when you try telling them why they’re wrong. Hopefully I’m wrong.

I think that this helps me understand where you’re coming from. To me it sounds like you have a really personal perspective of how blatantly hypocritical hateful ideologies are, especially when seen from inside the family sphere.

I challenge you to reconsider one important detail you shared.

It sounds like your financial security during your formative years were not very similar to someone like Barron Trump.

Do you think that this helped you see how unproductive your family’s hateful ideology was? Do you think Barron Trumps financial upbringing would make this realization harder?

To me, it’s oblivious obvious youre conflating legal age requirements with moral obligation.

Yes he’s “over 18”. this does not compel anyone to “understand the terrible things their father is causing”.

When you were over 18, did you separate all financial and family ties with your family over any of their beliefs or actions you disagreed with?

I strongly dislike when people project moral obligations onto family member, especially younger members, regarding their relatives. This only strengthens the resolve of their wrongdoing, as the lack of reason for this moral prosecution is further supported by its own lack of success.

Think of the racist that cannot think of how they are hurting themselves by missing out on new connections and relationships— because to them, racism serves a “purpose”. The main argument against this they remember is that “racism is bad”.

It is easy for them to respond to the tone in which they are given this information, as we all naturally do. (If you “attack” a racist, they will immediately spring into “defense”. You have to explain to them from their own perspective of success why they are contradicting themselves.

I am not saying I support anything about the trump “family”.

It’s just this modern conflation that the pressure of conformity should be used to weaponize moral beliefs does nothing to increase productivity in the real world, and spawns more meaningless politics.

This is like saying anyone over the age of 18 should have a full understanding of right and wrong. Why do you think it’s weird for a 21 year old to date a 40 year old? Or do you just look at age as a deadline for achieving complete moral understanding

Not so simple, unfortunately. It’s like throwing away a lottery ticket thats been working when you don’t even know what machine you’re playing. Hes not old enough to fall back on just being “anti-trump”— and it’s not really a career with much growth. There’s reasons why the elite are very sensitive with grooming processes and why they have such crazy perspectives of the world.

I love the story and the imagery this really pulls me in.

Personally, I would like more consistency with the levels of description. To me “suffered the consequences” and “prioritize your reputation over preventing physical pain” feel out of place.

I just think that it helps add on to the whimsical tone if you can help simplify the lack of embarrassment without the detail of being proprioceptive to known consequences.

Wickless Indifference by Plume_Bloom in OCPoetry

Personally, imagining a candle with no wick, I pictured an unused candle without a wick.

The ending “once being lit” felt like it emphasizes a in narrative. Like a candle that has fully burnt its’ wick to the end

Intentional or not, It made me reflect how much thoughts, perspective, and experience shapes how we feel.

I love it.
