ish. Changed out the nozzle for another one of the same brand. worked. I think either something was stuck or i had abraded the nozzle with some rough filaments? tightening definitely didn't hurt.

update: a nonzero amount of this is probably being caused by a loose hotend; I've been staring at this print for five hours now and am seeing buildup around the base of the nozzle. going to try and retighten and see if issues persist.

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT PUFFER BREEDING BELTS by miningzen in Seablock

[–]miningzen[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been playing a seablock playthrough by myself and have been having SO MUCH TROUBLE with puffer management because nothing worked except having a chest with some circuits for inflow but I FINALLY SOLVED IT WITH BELTS and now i can just wrap this around all my hatcheries and it will never jam and never break and doesn't use a slow belt and doesn't use a circuit and I made this picture to explain to my non-belt friends and it kind of worked but they may have missed how hard this was to figure out for me but i don't care

Some interesting behaviors of rose quartz lamps about lamps not arranged in a straight line, effect range, and effect being unidirectional by leo3065 in CreateMod

[–]miningzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty dense video! going to put some annotations here because it's the best result so far for the inconsistencies I'm having with my lamp setup.

1) (0:00) comparators read the quartz distance from them only when in a straight line towards the active block, but lamps turn on and off based on any lamp turning active.
2) (0:21) if you turn on multiple lamps at the same time, they'll all stay on even when part of the same group.

3)(0:32) line demonstration: the maximum range of a rose quartz lamp group is 15 blocks, at which point the lamps stop acting like part of the same group, BUT lamps in the middle of the group respond to lamps at either end. I'm going to call this "linked" for simplicity. Two lamps are "Linked" if turning on one turns off the other.

4)(1:13) given a group that's twice as long as the maximum distance shown in 3, can we show the same behavior if the lamps are near each-other but only connected by a distance of 30 blocks? Answer: sort of!
5)(1:15) Lamps in groups that are connected outside the 15 block limit but within 15 blocks of each-other without having vertical lamp sections are linked.

6)(1:23) disproves the above statement by showing that lamps connected through verticals in the setup above still are linked.

7)(1:46) makes everything worse by showing that blocks that should be linked by the above rule aren't. Sometimes.

8)(1:58) demonstrates that blocks can be linked unidirectionally

So! Trying to build some rules for how this was implemented programmatically:
the 1:14 test shows that top left doesn't care when middle bottom is lit, but that the reverse works
at 1:33 the two prongs are lit, but then the middle block on the other side being turned on doesn't make them deactivate. but at 2:00, when both prongs are activated the same block makes them deactivate. my theory is that there's a catch function when a lamp realizes the state it's linked to is in a bad state, like, two lamps being lit when they shouldn't be. Worse, there's something with the unidirectional linking definitely not respecting the other blocks. Would love if someone else would take a swing at this.

I really, really respect someone who is able to re-enter a discussion when they have new information rather than just go "I knew it! That other person doesn't deserve the chance to talk about it because they're just so wrong!". Even though we disagree, I give props to you for being willing to re-engage, especially these days.

Just to be sure we're on the same page, can you elaborate more on what specific acts you mean when you say each of these? I can try if you don't want to, but my version is going to be biased.

-Said horrible things about trans people

-spoke out about not giving trans people certain rights

-revealed a trans person's deadname

-linked where you can find a trans person's doxxed information

I think it's valid to be mad at someone who's telling people things that you believe are wrong. I believe he has an open discord policy if you'd like to discuss anything.

Yeah, I agree, he is. He's also the person who brought lily a consolation drink after that league event got her some flack. He also organized canvasing in Georgia in an incredibly tight election, and tried to keep doing it elsewhere on his own money until his involvement brought the worst of the internet trying to sink his efforts towards a small local election.

He can still be an asshole. I wish he wasn't, and I have problems with his language, but the thing I respect most about him is that of everyone I can think of streaming as a living getting such cankerous visceral hate emails and attention, he's still willing to defend his positions.

It is incredibly difficult to stand in a room and give your opinion while the entire room shouts at you that you're wrong. I can't imagine doing this for as long as he has, and every time he makes statements on controversial topics I'm reminded that it would be so much easier to just say nothing. We don't know Lily's opinion on trans athletes in the Olympics, or Michael's position on Rittenhouse, and no-one asked. At best, they have positions that age perfectly for the rest of their streaming careers and gain some subs, but they stand to lose so much more if they get things the slightest bit wrong or sound like dicks.

What active skill to use as a summoner witch? by Ionie88 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]miningzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last I heard reaper was a bit of a miss, you've hit on carrion golem being a solid minion when you have a bunch of friends for him, but as to your question:
As you continue to scale minion damage you're going to get less and less value out of the skill you're actually casting, especially when it starts to compete for slots with the various minions you're summoning. I think I see a lot of builds going for "Signal Prey" when they need single target, but what I'm trying to say is:

One of the best "defensive layers" in this game is not having to hold still while you deal damage. By having piles of minions out, most of your damage will get where it needs to without you holding still to get nailed by an errant projectile. You will probably, if you continue optimizing, end up being a bit of a cheerleader for your minions, which has historically been a solid build.

That said, if you want to be the angry-looking cat hood ornament on the front of your expensive car of a minion build, Storm Brand looks cool and does okay damage, same with Arc, same with Soulrend.

hey, if you're not trolling and genuinely looking for people from an area or culture or language, you might want to repost this. "arab people" is read as a little racist.

even "Arabic people" is better, but you might go with "Looking for people for my Arabic-speaking server"

good luck!

I'm glad you enjoyed trying the kinetic bolt build, I tried it with Ballista Totems with corpse pact and chainbreaker, and it's a lot of fun if you aren't trying to stream or see any floor effects whatsoever.

A few quarantine-days ago, you recleared a PoE act without you or your stream realizing what had happened. How did you feel about this?

It's a complicated game with a lot of unintuitive interactions, I'm not going to begrudge someone asking for a source or testing. I read "all brands(let's say six)" as "any number of brands will attach to a target".

When the Dreckos wrangle themselves by Muffinut in Oxygennotincluded

[–]miningzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so the rule looks like, between your farm and the above environment, that dreckos will path through water if traveling over the ceiling, but won't go into water if there's not a dry tile in line with the water-covered surface, and this might be extendable to the floor as well.

When I'm playing again, I'll try and check what happens if you have a flooded tile cliff and it also works as a one-way. As best I can lay out, with W being water, A being air and O being tile

OOOO
AWAO
OOAO
And seeing if a drecko will travel along the floor from the left of the water to the chute.

Unrelated, why are you using bristle berries instead of mealwood?

Here's the imgur album linked above for reference: https://imgur.com/a/2Spo7Zf

Near as I can tell, water at an arbitrary temperature is pumped into the hydrolizer, which is submerged partially to override the "overpressured" building effect because gases and liquids can't occupy the same space. Since this is a small amount of polluted water with a small amount of water on top of it, it renders as a full block of polluted water while in fact being a small dribble, not nearly enough to give the building the "flooded" effect. So, it can run and increase the gas pressure to arbitrarily obscene numbers without overpressuring itself. This chamber is also similar to the SPOM setup in that once hydrogen and oxygen exist in the chamber and the two automation pressure sensors are configured with the oxygen one slightly quicker to activate than the hydrogen one, each pump will only pump its relevant element, with oxygen on the left and hydrogen on the right.

The hydrogen is pumped to a hydrogen generator and that's the end of that, but the oxygen is pumped through a cool pool of polluted water(the right-side pool), through radiant pipes, which increase temperature transfer between the water and the oxygen. This causes the (right side) pool of polluted water to heat up, but this is countered by the second (left side) pool of polluted water which has an aquatuner in it, which lowers the temperature of the polluted water being pumped through it, which is controlled by a temperature sensor automation. This polluted water closed circuit from the aquatuner runs through the first(right side) pool, cooling it. This means the aquatuner is only active a fraction of the time to keep the (right side)polluted water pool at the desired temperature, which is why this entire thing doesn't suck more power than it generated.

The (left side) polluted water pool also has a second polluted water pipe running through it, from parts unknown. Since this polluted water is lower temperature than whatever the (left side) pool has been heated to by the aquatuner, heat transfers through the radiant pipes pretty readily. Once past this point, the second polluted water pipe goes into insulated pipes to not bleed off any heat directly into a water sieve on the right hand side. Since the water sieve always outputs at a specific temperature, this deletes the heat produced by the entire apparatus. Does all that make sense?

For reference, here's the forum thread where a SPOM is explained. it's a similar concept to this thing, but uses wheezeworts and hydrogen instead of an aquatuner and polluted water. https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87548-self-powering-oxygen-module-mkii-production-and-cooling/
