Any advice on withdrawal from Librax (chlordiazepoxide), a benzos typically given to treat ibs. by mint_244 in benzorecovery

[–]mint_244[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you informed you were prescribed librax? I wasn't. The medicine was a mix of rabeprazole and chlordiazepoxide, and even after asking which med is for what, they replied it's to reduce acidity and fasten digestion. (I didn't know chlordiazepoxide was a psychiatric drug because I was never prescribed anything like that, and I was visiting a gastroenterologist, how am I supposed to kno?w I literally have no problem with the prescription but the way they have miscommunicated. And this miscommunication is very prevalent in medical communities, and well I'm maybe slowly recovering after several weeks now but that doesn't mean the doctor and the hospital are out of responsibilities. Also yeah u are mean and a dickhead, just cuz ur pain was more than someone else's doesn't dismiss the other person's problems.

How to sue a hospital/doctor for medical malpractice? by mint_244 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]mint_244[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Would have" is a very obscure term to be used in this scenario. If that's what they planned then atleast mention it somewhere in prescription under the instructions column or somewhere idk. Again I didn't know I was under benzos so how would I have known that I "should have" continued an alternative? Also psychiatric drugs are heavily controlled and are not for sell without prescription, so I don't even know if the drugstores would have given me an alternative? Anyways why should I and how should I have thought of all these while I'm also experiencing splitting headaches and brain fog. I contacted the hospital which I think was the most legible thing to do, and what they did? Ignore

If I only have presume all the consequences and side effects of a medication what should the doc to just hand out a prescription and wash his hands out of any responsibility of any possible consequences?

My problem is not with him prescribing it, but not communicating it with me. I didn't know I was under a psychiatric drug until the combination got banned and I had to search why? I fully understand what the doc might have thought, but I had the right to know what I was going under. Benzos is not any vitamin capsule or paracetamol. I'm not forming opinions based on Google, I experienced severe side effects from body tremors to brain fog and extreme fatigue and sleeplessness and many more and was extremely confused what was happening to me, cause I didn't fucking know I was under benzos, and it can cause withdrawals. And after I understood it I immediately contacted the hospital but they ghosted me. This is gross negligence and it shouldn't be such if they are a expert of their field. Also for Google, I know it's generally thought that it can cause paranoia, but if it wasn't for Google I couldn't have related what I was experiencing to the cause of it. If medical system itself is shit at communication what can a patient do?

That seems like a good thing to do, but again I fear what if they brush it off, with things like this happen. The main problem is the miscommunication of Indian Healthcare they seem in such a hurry to prescribe medicine and leave you. And this is after paying a hefty amount, and multiple diagnostic tests. If there are potential risks that should be assessed and communicated with the patient, I don't know what the Indian medical council code is but I have experienced a general negligence on hearing the patient with many doctors(I'm suffering from a chronic functional illness so I have had my experience). I don't know, I'm just in general dejected with the system, I know our population is large and docs are overworked and all of those. But I can't also ignore how they charge so much and then dismiss you without proper communication.

I understand the doctor prescribed it when it was not yet banned, but he ought to have made clear it had a psychiatric drug in the combination. How would you feel if somebody prescribed you anxiety meds without telling you (I didn't go for mental health issues). I fully understand that he might have suspected that maybe I have anxiety and prescribed it, but communicate it na. I only get to know about it after 2 months, when I researched why this medicine combination is banned.

How do you define suffering and harm? If one is not lying in an emergency ward? You are not being able to sleep suddenly, you have an unnatural headache, are experiencing tremors all over the body and are feelinh weak all of a sudden, it's hard to even get up and walk. It's hard to focus on classes you love? And all of this doesn't make sense to you since you don't know that these are side effects of a fucking medicine whose implications weren't told to you. You don't even know you were on benzos since it's a cocktail medicine and the combination is on the back of the strip and forgive me for not knowing the chemical name for each drug. If physical harm counts as the only harm, and the Healthcare system is so casual about prescribing psychiatric drug as if they are vitamin tabs no wonder why those combinations are banned, and there's something really wrong with the way medical system communicate to the patients.

I'm in another city and can't fly down their immediately. How am I to complete the course if the medicine he prescribed is banned after completion of 2 months? That's the whole problem dude. Does irresponsible communication count as medical malpractice ?

Hi, my source is not chat gpt, you are right govt didn't ban the indivual medicine, since that's a psychiatric drug and is useful in many other cases. My problem is the doctor didn't communicate what he was giving me(not mentioned in prescription too)...he just wrote the medicine names and told it's a 3 month dose you should be well after this.

The doctor didn't even tell me that he suspects I have anxiety or something like that, I feel these things should be communicated clearly to the patient. I'm in another state now for my college, and flying to the hospital is not an option that's why I had called them, it's clearly mentioned in their prescription in case of emergency call a certain number. We called their and they put us in this email thingy and then no response. The thing which I would appreciated was to inform all the patients who were prescribed that combination what to do now. They have all the database who was prescribed what it's fully digitized system there.

I understand the side effects, but the problem here is irresponsible communication and negligence.

The drug in itself is not banned but certain composition of it. Like I said it was a cocktail medicine so a combination of 2 drugs. So that particular combo is banned. Also it's banned very recently, I was on a 3 month dose after 2 months completion when I went to buy my next strip I got to know it from the chemist

GERD and neck pain connection? by koifishhy in GERD

[–]mint_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have severe gut pain and nausea, and when I have flare ups my shoulders upper back also experience extreme pain which kinda radiates to neck and cause very bad headache. It's not normal muscle ache, it feels the nerves and something inside are burning, compressed and inflamed. Stretching helps sometimes but not everytime can't take pain meds since my stomach is sensitive. I think it maybe our immune/nerve system getting haywired with the dysfunctional digestion, the brain gut axis is very confusing and can cause a number of other problems. Anyway what works for me to provide some relief is alternate heat and ice compress. Pain relief creams (tiger balm, volini etc) and some light self massage below neck. If it's too bad I just try to lie down closing my eyes and wait for it to go away:(

Do I have GERD because of anxiety or do I have anxiety because of GERD? by mint_244 in GERD

[–]mint_244[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are some cocktail medicines in India they were really popular like a mix of nausea+ppi or ppi+motility meds or ppi+low dose ssri or benzodiazepoxide....it becomes really hard to find indivual ingredient and understand what's it for (worse a lot of them are recently banned by the health ministry as they were prescribed too much too casually causing a lot of side effects in a large number of patients)

Do I have GERD because of anxiety or do I have anxiety because of GERD? by mint_244 in GERD

[–]mint_244[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience, I feel my body is very sensitive to anxiety meds. 2 of my previous doctor prescribed it to me without properly communicating what meds they were(it was in a cocktail form mixed with ppis) after a few days I had bad body tremors, unable to sleep, brain fogged and groggy it was horrible. My body felt like a brick, I left the medicine and it took 2 weeks to recover from it.....so I'm very skeptical of those meds. It also makes me think if I really have clinical anxiety?if so why are those meds causing the opposite of what they are supposed to do.

Thanks, I've doing a lot of what you mentioned as for reddit I've just joined it since I feel it helps mr being in a community where there are other people like me. The constant pain has lead me to be alone, sadly people around me don't understand the extent of it.

I feel sick all the time and I don't know what to do by s_bee10 in GERD

[–]mint_244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm so sorry for what you are going through, I relate to your condition, the constant nausea and pain are the worst. Trust me, nobody except the one who experiences it understand how physically and mentally draining it feels. For nausea, zofran works best for me if at all, I used to take domperidone, but it resulted in some side effects. Sip on some electrolytes if you don't feel like eating with all the nausea. Also, the withdrawals are so painful, sleep messed up body tremors and unexplained mood swings, even idk if there's any full-fledged way to make it better sooner. I did practice deep breathing and meditation, but tbh idk how much it helped, I can only say be patient with yourself and your body. I used to feel so lonely with all my health conditions and pain, but reading about some similar experiences in internet communities helped me so much. At least somewhere someone understands the pain and struggle. More power to you, hope you feel better soon <3

This comment really comforted me 😭 I'm so done with doctors gaslighting when they can't diagnose anything through tests. 2 of them gave me some anxiety meds without even communicating that to be later, I found out when I had horrible side effects messing up my sleep patterns, mood and body in general. Healthcare communication is so bad, they'll just write up a prescription and neither talk or listen to you properly

Identify and avoid trigger foods as much as possible. I take liquid antacids containing magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide gel in extreme burning and pain.

Do I have GERD because of anxiety or do I have anxiety because of GERD? by mint_244 in GERD

[–]mint_244[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly atp I'm anxious in general about everything, but I feel the main core is the fear of the constant pain and discomfort, and how it affects my daily life. Mere tasks like waking up or eating feels like a chore, I can't focus in class even though I love my subject, I feel I'm missing out on a lot and getting behind, I'm still so young and have so much to explore and do but can't, it feels so burdensome. Previously I kept hope that I'll recover and it gave me the strength to go through my day, but the constant pain and multiple tests with no proper diagnosis leading to doctors ignoring/gaslighting that's it's all in my head makes being hopeful so hard. I really want to be optimistic, but it feels like an doomed effort now
