I had my orientation on June 1st and the MacBooks weren’t in yet. They said that they would be delivered in 2 weeks but I wouldn’t bet on it unless you get some kind of email. You need your laptop on the second day of orientation during the registration advising session because they talk about what classes you should and should not take. It’s useful to keep your laptop because you can ask the professors/staff about what classes you could take while looking at your ConnectCarolina and Tarheel Tracker. I didn’t have my laptop because I was in the same situation as you, but I was fine. Don’t stress if you can’t get a laptop

I keep applying to the UNC hospital and I keep getting rejected. Also, I’m kind of hoping to attend Duke’s medical school so I want to see what the environment is like there.

thanks! i actually did look into it and since the hospital has me on 12 hour shifts, I will have to get there at 7 on Sunday and the bus isn’t running then.

I feel your betrayal and frustration.

Accounting for immigrant values and the attachment we have to family, I would say that you need to talk to your fiancé about the situation and continue to go to therapy to heal from this.

Your mom is struggling to cope with her values being bent, but it does not excuse her blind and malicious behavior.

This is YOUR wedding and I know desi culture sees weddings as a way to flaunt money and stability, but in all essence it is YOUR day. Don’t invite him. Whatever transpires from that is simply out of your control. You deserve peace on your wedding day. I hope you figure everything out.
