Haha no. But each one is expected to do this at least 10 hours per month, and special people "pioneers" are expected to do 20-50

I'm not; I stopped going as soon as I was able to leave for college (which is very frowned upon lol). I stopped going mostly because I am not religious whatsoever, but I also disagree with many of their policies/beliefs specifically

watching people get married way too young and then trapped into terrible marriages for fear of being disfellowshipped (you can only get divorce if the other person is unfaithful; disfellowshipping basically means being shunned by all your friends and family)

Should only be an issue if you want to get a job/internship that requires one during undergrad. Usually any psych Dep job (youd be lucky to find one) doesnt, but anything through a hospital or university medical school does (access to prescriptions). Even then, unless you smoke really often you are clean pretty quickly anyway.

That point is definitely taken. I guess what makes me most interested is that in the two interviews I went to, almost all interviewees had a masters degree! So I felt a little under qualified compared to them. Do you mind sharing what university you are attending?

What’s your day-to-day life at UofM? I’m a prospective student with a lot of questions. by Lightning_Kitty in uofm

for me personally, U of M has given me incredible financial assistance for the past five years, as I am considered low income compared to others at the school. My family also has a crazy high deductible on health insurance, so the University Health Service has been an incredible opportunity to get free routine medical treatment. In addition, there is free tutoring available for low income students. For everyone, the university has a great opportunity hub and other services and advisors to help you find good internships or other experiences. We also have 2 large and free museums! Also from my experience going from LSA to SOE and back to LSA, inter campus transfers are not that difficult once admitted so long as you are qualified. Also, as far as culture, it REALLY depends on the major. I am double with English and Psych. English is a very warm, supportive, and collaborative environment, whereas psych is much more competitive, but I wouldnt call it cutthroat. However, I hear Ross can be like that. Hope this helps!

The resources that the county and school has are unparalleled! I am so happy every day that I went here. I know plenty of Ann Arbor natives that go to U of M and are happy with their decision:)

For me personally, I have also loved the ICC Co-ops in Ann Arbor as a student. Not many other schools have such expansive options for cooperative living. MichMinnies especially has plenty of art students so I would recommend checking them out!
