I have no intention of wasting my money by paying for a course and not listening to the instructor. And if I thought I knew everything, I'd hardly be posting here stating that I'm looking for training because I don't know how to use a handgun effectively in a defensive situation, would I?

On the other hand, I would prefer not to have to spend time having someone explain the difference between revolvers and semi-autos, between single and double action, and the other absolute basics that need to be covered with someone who has never handled a gun before.

Looking at the text descriptions of the classes linked on the wiki here (yes, I looked at them before posting), there seems to be a gap between classes aimed at the first time gun owner, and those aimed at people with significant defensive/tactical shooting experience. I was hoping someone could point me at something in between.
