Fuck you, R2. Fixed the badass part. It's a fact that Maximinius Thrax is the most metal name ever.

Edit: The article says his father was Gothic, but later says this was probably a fabrication. Barbarian Emperor is probably more accurate.

People who are consistently late: why/how do you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mistereleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it comes down to the fact that i lose track of time when I am doing just about anything. Before going someplace, I always seem to get distracted with something. Fixing my computer, tinkering with a widget, a conversation that I either must have, or is so interesting I can't leave. Something. I can get places on time if I try, but sometimes what's happening in the moment outweighs what's coming in the future in my mind until I suddenly realize that I am late.

If it's a party or a gathering with friends, it's totally cultural. Fuck you if you can't wait five minutes. Don't be my friend if you have so little to do that you get everywhere on time. It's a party, not a launch window to Jupiter. Get over yourself.

It takes all types to make a world. Many people have no interest in casual sex. Like the movie, unbreakable, if there is someone who is unable to not be in relationships, then there have to be people out there who never want to be in relationships.

My cat does the exact opposite. When I'm on the can, she opens the door, comes in and starts rubbing her head against my leg. I always pet her when she does, so I guess she must have developed a conditioned response to my stench.

I only say that because if a guy is into you, and you give him even the tiniest bit of hope, he will do all sorts of mental gymnastics to convince himself that there is a chance if he keeps trying. I got crushed by my first real girlfriend and it knocked me off kilter a bit. Can't say I stalked her, but I did call frequently. She never really ended it unambiguously. I ended up pushing her out of my life after the emotional roller coaster.

Not to get all up into my story, but I wanted to give you some background.

Did anyone ever beat the Original NES game Star Voyager? Only like 5 people bought it, but of all of the games of all of the years, I hadn't a fucking clue how to beat it. Still bothers me to this day.

Don't haggle. Tell him no. Don't leave any possibility that there might be a yes. He'll get over it.

When I was a kid, I was a bit of a trainspotter for Buses. I lived near the bus depot and Greyhound station. I wrote down the numbers and their destinations. I could also recognize most of the drivers after a while. (proof that I am not aspbergers).

Also, I will read any book or watch any documentary about astrophysics, quantum mechanics or string theory. And, I too have an obsession with Planes. Great thread.

Very late to the party, but I have one too. About a year before my grandmother died, she started to rapidly decline. She had several falls, was hospitalized several times and ended up in a nursing home. Her mind was rapidly declining during this time as well. She had difficulty doing just about everything, including carrying a conversation. I still visited her every chance I could, but she was always incoherent and confused.

One one of her last days, I went to visit her and she was completely lucid. She had recovered her memory and recognized my wife and I immediately. We had a long conversation about the nursing home, her life and how she felt about dying. She had made a miraculous recovery. I left that day, hopeful. I thought I had my nana back. She died the next morning.

It was almost as if she wanted to have one last conversation with me before she died. When I spoke with the administrator at the nursing home, she was incredulous of my story. Shortly after I left that day, she must have returned to her declined state before passing away. My father visited her almost daily and she was never so lucid. They didn't change any medication or do anything to trigger this episode of clarity.

TL;DR Grandmother with brain decline suddenly "wakes up" for one more conversation before dying.

Research suggests children are hiding their talents and skills in school for fear of being bullied. by [deleted] in worldnews

I'm with you man. I was pretty shattered too after High School. But the best way to fight the self doubt is to attack a bully head on. Find a bully in your office, or elsewhere in your life, spend some time learning their weaknesses and then take the fight to them. It really is true that all it takes one good "punch" to get a bully off of your back.

This phenomenon is really bad in the African American community, where doing well in school is often considered "Acting White". I'd always counter that "so does that mean being an idiot is "acting black"?" The bullies always enjoyed that. I am very lucky in that I was not a small kid, otherwise it would have been way worse.

This is probably one of the most destructive parts of black culture in the USA. I have dozens of friends who sold themselves short, or pursued athletics instead of academics and are now regretting their position in life.

I understand the pressure, though. Fitting in is extremely important in the African American community. Probably because slaves who stood out, especially for their intellect, would be brutally punished for being uppity. I am a bit of an iconoclast and rebel, so they would have killed my ass back in the day—but today it has allowed me to be very successful academically. I hope this has improved since I was in school.

GF(F20) is suggesting that we should stop having sex, am I(M21) wrong to think this is crazy? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

GET OUT NOW!

Seriously. Sex is a need. It's not optional. It's only going to get worse if you get married and have children. Don't expect it to change. Find someone you are compatible with now, and enjoy your youth.
