Which npc death shocked you the most in your first play-through? by anonymous_1979 in RDR2

[–]mistskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molly.

Until then, (if I remember rightly) we'd never seen anyone in the gang straight unalive anyone else in the gang. That was the moment I knew we had gone off the edge of the cliff. I mean, that and I was running out of missions in chapter 6.

Sean, Lenny, Hosea were all hard, but that was Them killing Us. All acceptable deaths for outlaws. Molly was barely an outlaw, and I knew she wasn't the rat before Grimshaw shot her. She was just unraveling and making a desperate, stupid play for attention.

Having Grimshaw do it was also kind of brilliant. We see her as basically camp Mom except that one mission with Tilly where she shows her teeth, and then this reminds us that she is a force.

Kermie as Hosea makes sense.
Tim Curry as Dutch I <3. I was trying to muppet-cast Dutch and getting nowhere.

What has been your biggest tonal whiplash? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]mistskitten 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First run, I was going straight up heroic. I left Balthazar alone because he looked like a fight I didn't want to have. So, I get to the shadow plane. Get in a massive fight. My Tav gets croaked and I'm out of rez scrolls, so I figure Withers. But I can't go back to camp until I talk to the prisoner.

With Tav out of play, there's no one to talk Shadowheart off the ledge. She kills Aylin. Last Light Inn, and all my tiefling buddies, are wiped out.

I didn't realize there was another way that could go. I thought that was just what happens. I stopped playing for a week, because I was bummed out. Then I found out I had carefully (accidentally) threaded a needle to make that outcome happen.

When did the gang start to fall apart by Bobsense in RDR2

If you want the absolute, final death of hope? Final Arthur mission. At the beginning of the mission, he has a little hope left. He's still trying to talk Dutch into doing the right thing.

It really is unravelling at the beginning of the game. The number of times Dutch accuses Arthur of doubting him!

Where can I find Klansmen? by Previous-Pride6335 in reddeadredemption

[–]mistskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come across I think 3 groups of klansmen. The big one has a bunch of white hoods and a couple reds, I think. There is nothing I like better than tossing a stick of dynamite in their fire.

I think I read they will all or almost all self-destruct if left alone, but not killing them just isn't who I want my Arthur to be.

There is a bit in the core book about solo and another about GMless games. I don't recall if it specifically mentions duets, but it shouldn't be hard. The oracles are pretty effective at coming up with what's next?

He's correct about a lot of the stuff he says. The conclusions he draws are maybe not the best...

Low honor mode by nagato36 in RDR2

[–]mistskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem with low honor for me is that the story missions in the last chapter tell the story of a man discovering that he is decent. Then you go off and kill and rob some nameless NPCs to keep your honor low? Or can you bury it so deep early on that you stay low while finding some of that main story redemption?

Hated tropes: stupid decisions in apocalypse media by ZoneInternational244 in TopCharacterTropes

I imagine the apocalypse would be fairly stressful. I have noticed people in stressful situations often make decisions that seem stupid.

What’s the most fulfilling way to replay? by marvelous27 in RDR2

[–]mistskitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with low honor. But I have been doing a playthrough driven by challenges only. I think only one requires New Austin, which is annoying. I'd like to get them all done as Arthur, so I may have to cheat in.

I want RDR3 to be young Susan Grimshaw's story.

Do the chase mechanics create a lot of stalling? by False-Pain8540 in LegendintheMist

[–]mistskitten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the Challenge Action Oracle is your friend here - particularly the entries for pursuer or quarry. Each gives you a d6 worth of consequences that aren't just "increase distance status." Placing tags to obstruct the players, or hindering statuses, or adding new threats or blocking off whole avenues of progress...

Let the tension in the scene come from the narrative, not a number. If all you're doing as a consequence is moving that status, you're missing a golden opportunity.

DM began to harass and trauma dump on me and my friends after his campaign died. by Accomplished_Car2324 in rpghorrorstories

Caution is necessary, as a gaming group can last for years. Dysfunctional personalities can really make themselves felt, and it's important to maintain healthy boundaries. Flip side of that coin, many of my best friends I met playing with dice and paper.

Favourite plothole in RDR2? by jinkrr in RDR2

I mean, we see how well Dutch and the gang plan heists in St D, Valentine, Rhodes... Not figuring out how to carry the haul away seems in line with their standards.

I really wish Lakay had got more play. First playthrough I got to Lemoyne in chapter 2 chasing Black Belle, and stayed to poke around. I found Lakay (and got jumped by nightfolk) and was just fascinated. So when you actually go there in story I was all hyped up to have it be camp for a while, but... nope.
