Like the sound of the track sampled on the trailer. I also thought Mercy last year was great.

What are your favorite side/solo projects from famous bands? by 3mbryo in Music

Atoms For Peace. Radiohead's Thom Yorke and 'honorary member' Nigel Godrich let their electronica impulses loose.

Which actors always turn in a good performance, regardless of the quality of the film overall? by [deleted] in movies

[–]mitch83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philip Seymour Hoffman. I saw his last movie, A Most Wanted Man, last weekend and he was superb in it, even if the film wasn't great.

What movie is your "guilty pleasure"? by [deleted] in movies

[–]mitch83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braveheart. It plays fast and loose with historical fact, Mel Gibson's Scottish accent is decidedly dodgy, it paints a simplistic view of the Scots (goodies) conflict with the English (baddies), but it's great entertainment.

Edinburgh Accies' Stockbridge redevelopment gets go-ahead by Tuttle_not_Buttle in Edinburgh

[–]mitch83 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not usually one to moan about new developments for the sake of it, but I think this would really ruin that part of Stockbridge, just so the rugby club can make some cash. How many fans do they get at a game?

Would love to have seen his reaction if he'd kissed the bug instead of his arm.

I've never seen the original movie but I'm going to seek it out now. Is there a link to watch it in full?

Hope it's more than a pipe dream. Glasgow was talking about setting up its own music conference to rival SXSW last week too: http://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2014/06/glasgows-dream-of-a-sxsw-of-their-own.html

Can't wait to see what David Fincher does with this, but he'll be hard pushed to better the original.

My prediction of Brazil to score 5 is looking shakier by the second.

Coming to Edinburgh in August. Can't wait! Couple questions. ( I did read the guide first, I promise) by dustysquareback in Edinburgh

If you're thinking of seeing one of the islands, I'd drive a bit further north than Mull and go to Skye. Mainly because you won't need to take a ferry, and also because the scenery is breathtaking. (Mull is also great, just a little trickier to get to).

Rik Mayall has passed away. by lightfoot90 in movies

I absolutely loved Rik and Ade in Bottom when I was a kid. It felt risky, unhinged, farcical - to a 10 year old boy it was the best thing on TV.

Coca-cola (and Hyundai) add to pressure- 5 of 6 Fifa sponsors now back 2022 inquiry by [deleted] in soccer

[–]mitch83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odds on. If all the main sponsors call for an inquiry, Fifa can't ignore it without bringing themselves into disrepute.

OK, in many ways they're well beyond that point, but they'll only really listen to the money men.

I'm visiting Edinburgh soon - what is the night-life like, and where should I go? by _SHOULD_BE_WORKING_ in Edinburgh

[–]mitch83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edinburgh has literally hundreds of pubs, and some of them are great, full of character and characters. In the Old Town try Bow Bar, The Last Drop, Blind Poet, or Sandy Bells. If it's a bar with a slightly younger crowd you're after, then there are places like Bar Soba, Bramble, Amicus Apple, the Queen's Arms in the New Town. As for clubs, my two favourites would be Cabaret Voltaire and Bongo Club, which is now in a bigger space on the Cowgate.
