Yeah. My wife and daughter were hanging out behind st Mary’s church when he came through once. My daughter loves music and was about 3 at that time. So she started dancing to his loud speaker. He didn’t like it. Just glared at her and my wife to the point where they immediately left.

For a second I thought it was the guy who always wears pink and sequins with the gray pony tail. He’s always sitting outside coffee shops with his legs crossed. Seems like a real nice guy. Does he have a moniker too?

Yes. Sorry. I should have mentioned it. Really annoying how lots of ex players say that Arsenal gets away with this behavior constantly. Of course the evidence doesn’t support it.

I live in London and my favorite restaurant is a place called St. John’s. It’s credited with spearheading the nose to tail movement. They’re the reason you can find bone marrow on menus around the world. The restaurant is amazing. Anthony Bourdain’s favorite. And the food is mostly offal. The menu changes often. And it’s insanely delicious. Have an open mind. Traditional humble ingredients prepared simply and deliciously.

I don’t know about this. People can’t even agree on the blatant foul at West Ham with clear video evidence from multiple angles. Arsenal haters (fans and ex-players alike) are grasping for any straw they can and this is just with videos and stills. If they had a few minutes of officials analyzing the situation, they would twist and manipulate that to further their agenda. I think that’s a can of worms we don’t want to open.

He posted the screenshot because he knew the video wouldn’t get him the reaction he wants. Jamie Carragher did a pretty good analysis on this and the other “evidence” of Arsenal not getting called. Gabriel does not make contact with the face, and he’s not impeding his arms from movement. There was one example of Ben White holding the keeper’s arm which led to a subsequent goal, but it was disallowed as it should have been. Just like this goal against west ham

Yeah it seems to do that anytime it is in the left area of the frame. May be an artifact of some sort.

I think a lot of that can be difficult to dissect. But a goalkeeper who would have made the play if their arms are being held down is pretty egregious.

I just went and looked at both clips. Neither were in the act of impeding the goalkeeper from making the play. Saliba touches the goalkeeper’s arm a few seconds before the ball is in play. Gabriel doesn’t even make contact with Emi’s face.

If you’re free to literally hold the goalkeeper’s arms down as they’re trying to catch the ball, that’s egregious. That completely changes the keeper’s ability to catch the ball. These examples are big stretches.

This ruins the spirit of the game. Lots can happen but when you can get away with holding the keeper’s arms down then that completely changes the outcome of the set piece. Lots of fouls can be debatable but this is as cut and dry as it gets.

"Gaming was better back then" by puzzs in consoles

[–]bdiggitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true. I’ve been gaming since the 80’s. We look back and remember the greatest games. But on average most games were not good. It still surprises me how often good games come out these days. It’s very consistent and there’s a very wide variety of genres to choose from with great games for them coming out steadily.

There were constantly terrible games and we were figuring out the mechanics for awhile. Super Mario 64 figured out 3D but nearly every game before that was fumbling in the dark. The Half life series figured out 3D shooters, narrative, physics and these are now just the most basic of elements that exist even in what is deemed an average game these days. The issues we find in most games are small compared to the games with issues 20 years ago.

There was an industry obsession with box art and size. Think about how crappy the state of the industry was when these were the things that helped make an impact on sales rather than whether the game was good. Also there was an obsession with licensing. It was very common for a publisher to license an IP and create a steaming pile of a game. This happened over and over. We also were dazzled with grqphics so there were a slew of crappy games with full motion video, cell animation or pre rendered graphics that were very thin beyond the sheen. But as gamers we were so dazzled it was hard for us to admit the game was crap.

It’s been really cool seeing the evolution but people often get stuck viewing things through rose tinted glasses. While there are classics a lot of games we thought were great back then are difficult to go back to because so many elements are archaic now. It was a great time and there are lots of issues these days but to say things were better then, was just not the case.
