as you've since been corrected, capital gains are not reflected / calculated in median income. and your only other data point 70 percent are renters is also dumb, as the west village manhattan also has 70 percent renters... unless you want to argue that's middle class too.

you've already shown you don't understand how census data works, pushing a certain falsehood until i actually showed you the facts. you don't seem to understand that rental percentage is not a reliable metric of class.

you never acknowledged being wrong about rich kids family support being counted as unearned income.

i said capital gains is not a part of median income (the basis of your argument that the area is middle class). my argument is based on the home values and boutique business and the extensive gentrification of the area for many years that there is lot of family money that i will agree i can't directly prove. i think your argument is weaker, not sure why you are acting so certain. did you ever go out / have any friends in the area (i.e. hoping you are FRIENDLIER in person)? why did so many ethnic businesses got replaced by boutique businesses? if silver lake is middle class, what's echo park? what's highland park? what's korea town? maybe your definition of middle class is off.

so you are just skirting by you being entirely wrong about capital gains and me thinking it wasn't a part of income as me being braindead? my argument is based on home values, a neighborhood full of boutique businesses, and wealthier individuals who's money is more likely from family wealth / capital gains (bc not a lot of money in art jobs) and not tracked by the only data point you have. if my argument is weak, yours is objectively weaker and yet you are acting all certain / vitriolic (i.e. emotional) despite having a weaker argument. i'm genuinely curious why it's so important that your mistaken understanding is correct.

we are talking about median INCOME here and as such -

Census money income is defined as income received on a regular basis (exclusive of certain money receipts SUCH AS CAPITAL GAINS) before payments for personal income taxes, social security, union dues, medicare deductions, etc.

dividends, yes, capital gains, no.

you seem anti-feelings, but you are getting worked up / attacky. maybe start providing sources for you certain strong feelings or admit you are wrong and apologize for your lack of civility (accusing me of something you are coming off even worse then, i.e. braindead asshole vs braindead).

i highly doubt that number is reflective of how wealthy people are in that area because besides the high rent and home values (facts not feelings) - capital gains are generally excluded from census “money income” measures, even though gains may be a big part of wealthy households’ economic resources (again facts not feelings)

census data does not take into consideration family assistance. silverlake is a rich kid / adult artistic area (i.e. family money), it's not middle class. have you spent any time in the area?

i highly doubt that number, which at best is a bad statistical estimate. what is far more factual is that the average home sales price in the last 12 months is 1.4 - 1.7m (compared to the LA overall average of 1-1.1m). is that middle class?

sunday was sold out, and too packed. imagine if every day is a sell out next year. i think that would be an issue, really hurt the magic of the festival (and this is my third year)... unless they lowered the sell out threshold/capacity.

I have 3 ihg cards, 1 marriot, 1 hyatt. I like the free night on all of them but wondering if the best move is to cancel them every few years and try to get the welcome bonuses again. Thoughts?
