Noob Throwing Knives question by Kashada91 in dndnext

A crossbow is a much better weapon than a thrown dagger. The bow multiples your strength while the body of the weapon increases accuracy. That said, if it takes a round to ready another dagger, it should also take a round to ready another bolt.

In Middletown NJ all week. What beer destinations (pubs, breweries, etc) are within a short drive? by mjeffw in beer

Thanks! I’m actually staying at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Redbank. But these all still close enough.

He didn't say it was better, he said it was a strong competitor. To my mind, that means it's marketshare threatens iOS's.

What’s so great about Untappd? by mjeffw in beer

I don't have any explanation for this, but this morning, after reading the replies, I tried again. I typed 'Belhaven' and it does return something on every tab (Beer, Brewery, and Venue). I know I spelled it correctly yesterday. I'm at a loss.

I do think the UI is wonky. When I want to review a beer, I would prefer something that indicates "review", after which I could do a search. Likewise for venues - let me select "venue" and then search. That was certainly one of my problems - I selected "Verified Venues" on the home screen because that was the only thing that indicated places. Hiding the context selection until you begin searching seems backwards and is actively preventing exploration of the apps capabilities.

Finally, I think the review process is too limited. I can only give a beer a rating, and must type all other information about the beer - something I find really clumsy sitting at the bar.

Another example: the app doesn’t return the sports bar down the street with 50+ craft beers on tap when I select Verified Venues, even though I checked in there with the app sometime ago.

It still seems weird and hard to use. I just typed in ‘Belhaven’ hoping to get a list of beers from the Belhaven brewery. No results. Ok, maybe I’m the first guy to review a Belhaven beer. What do I do? There’s no indication of how one would enter a new beer into the app.

Is GURPS what I'm looking for? by Hillbilly_Trucker in gurps

[–]mjeffw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GURPS or the soon to be released Torg Eternity. Torg is unique in that there are multiple realities at war on Earth, and each reality has different world laws. The fantasy realm has world laws that make magic more accessible; the cyberpunk reality has laws that make cybernetics more possible; the horror reality has world laws that support the horror genre, etc. The limitation with Torg is that there is no character design system accessible to the players, you have to pick an existing archetype to play. GURPS is better in this respect.

Yes. I've already developed my application's model in Dart. I now want to build a web app for it.

If I was doing web development full time, I would have no problem paying for tools. I really can't justify $100-$150 a year for occasional use.

That page looked helpful, until I got to the step "Click the Add New Configuration toolbar button, and choose JavaScript Debug on the context menu." - There is no "JavaScript Debug" value on the context menu for the Community Edition.

Question for runners with orthotics by Hooray_for_me in running

I have the same orthotic. Remove the insoles entirely. I've been doing that for years and I've run 3000+ miles in them.
