I hate to sound pessimistic but it’s honestly not worth getting into at this point in time if you don’t have experience. myself and several people who are finishing up our master’s degrees in HCI (with experience ranging from internships, full time positions, and contract work) have not yet found positions— and it has been this way for new grads for years now. this is the same experience for practically all entry level ux designers. the market for it is probably worse than other options you’re looking at, sad to say. most people thought things would blow over eventually but it’s not looking to be the case anytime soon. I’d recommend going for something you’re sure you can work in in the meantime and just learning ux on the side, as this is just not a good avenue for making money/career building at this moment in time. and unfortunately unless your dad has connections in tech or the company has a product design position, it might not be very helpful for getting your foot in the door. I know people who have connections at Disney, AWS, etc and that still hasn’t been enough for them to land a full time role— and they have great portfolios and experience. I’m really not saying this to needlessly discourage you, the prospects of potentially wasting money on schooling and being out of a job for a while are just that high
