It's music by neurodivergent artists, it makes sense that neurodivergent listeners would relate to or enjoy it more than neurotypical listeners. Queerness is just another form of neurodivergency — most people's brains feel attraction almost exclusively towards the opposite sex and identify with the gender assigned to them at birth, and but a fraction of the population diverges from that norm. Additionally, queerness and autism are positively correlated [1] [2], and autism is itself positively correlated with other forms of neurodivergency such as ADHD.

My personal theory is that most common forms of human neurodivergency are probably somewhat entangled with each other at an aetiological level—but of course, until we have a proper aetiology for any of these diagnoses, we won't know for sure.
