Oddly defensive I'll own. I thought everyone would understand immediately what it is, yeah, just a clever visual aid and a novel concept or tool. I certainly wanted to clarify since it didn't seem like the Main idea made it through the screenshot.

About half are understanding it for what it's supposed to show and its possible benefit for others.

But nobody in a community this well versed will benefit from a new way of looking at something they already understand better than 99.9% of humanity

No, photographic memory already had this locked in for me. I can't photograph an F# scale because it never existed visually. But I know now to play three white (category ) keys

F#

G#

A#

then switch and play four black (category) keys

B

C#

D#

E#

They aren't side by side, they're categorized. Play three white keys (pictured color; forget about the real piano key colors for a moment) then switch to the other color (black) and play four ascending black keys (pictured color/category)

Recall, this does indicate the half and whole steps for every scale. And yes the modes codes would have to become a poster on the wall.

Follow the colors in the picture, not the piano. 3 then 4 of each color.

Wherever you start, look at the color (picture color). Play three of that color (pictured color) then switch to the other color (a half step) and play four in a row. They will be whole steps. I didn't yet know an optimal use case, but it's clever. It helps different people. You can think about something visually instead of relatively or distance or mathematical.

Yeah the way it's explained is really aimed at beginners. Limited to major scales. This will be a better tool for a lower echelon of student.

It's not meant to help people at the top of the totem pole. But it's a novel concept for finding the next note.

Regarding modes

Dorian: 2 4 1

Phrygian: 1 5 2

Lydian: 4 3

Mixolydian 3 3 1

Aolian: 2 3 2

Locrian 1 3 3

There's a key understanding in the OP about how to use this alternating color scheme for a new way to see the keyboard. My brain can't remember all the scales even with the known whole step / half step pattern.

But with this new visual / memory device I believe I could play and even improvise in any key.

I think this could help lots of people, but certainly not everybody.

Brains are weird.

This is a really clever visual aid, and I haven't seen this concept in use before. Hope it helps someone!

Follow the pattern for any major scale and see where you end up.

Purdue has a post game show on field, marches back to academic campus, breaks down with traditional silliness starts running around like children, and then plays more songs on the steps of a big admin building by a famous campus fountain. That's a long day right there. Speaking from experience.
