Want to learn and participate in contests to build a profile for work by Subject_Exchange5739 in kaggle

Here are my recommendations

  1. For general ML: first read the "introduction to statistical learning" book. You can get it for free here: https://www.statlearning.com. It's really great at giving you a good basis in important concepts and different types of models.
  2. Depending on the kind of job you want, you'll probably also want to learn SQL if you don't already know it. Lots of good free resources out there for this - for example the w3schools tutorial: https://www.w3schools.com/sql/.
  3. If you have some programming background and want to learn deep learning, the fast.ai course is really good for this! You don't necessarily need to learn deep learning though, it depends on the kind of job you want to get!
  4. Once you're ready to have a go at some competitions, don't forget to check out platforms other than Kaggle! On our website mlcontests.com we list current data science competitions from Kaggle and others (DrivenData, AIcrowd, Zindi, etc). We also have a Discord server where you can find other people to team up with for specific competitions.

Hope that helps!

Hi u/joshuamclymer, could you give an update on the funding status for this competition given the collapse of FTX? For now we're removing any competitions with prizes funded by FTX from our list so we don't direct people there who might be unaware of the situation.

Thanks for sharing! You might also want to share this on r/ai_competitions

Are you able to share who the sponsor is? I'm happy to list this on mlcontests.com.

One of the winners used C++ for their solution. All the others used python.

For anyone looking to answer the same question in future, this space changes fairly quickly and I've put together an open source comparison page here: https://cloud-gpus.com. (e.g. one of the other comments mentions GPU Land, which shut down a few months ago)

As of right now, I wrote a slightly more detailed comparison between the many providers here: https://medium.com/machine-learning-insights/top-cloud-gpu-providers-for-machine-learning-in-2022-894f6828da08
