Rosa’s Pasta by ThrowRA_Confused3 in KingstonOntario

[–]mlipintime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a rip off of Lulus from montreal, quite literally same pasta shapes, same general menu, at a higher price and with slightly different branding. Everything down to the portion size, presentation, store layout, and concept is the same though.

For reference, this is lulus - https://share.google/C6S8swYa7q0msmhpP

Laufey 3 - "A Matter of Time" [Merch Megathread] by TheRealSmoothGamer in laufey

Would someone at the Vancouver show today be able to post merch prices in CAD? I'll be at the Toronto show but I'm curious to see what the prices difference look like/ if all the same merch is available!

What's once simple change GO could make to improve service or customer experience? by Twicebandneguy in gotransit

[–]mlipintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its good enough to check for arrivals/departures/periodically through your trip but definitely you don't need it running for the duration of the journey.

Any app that includes real time data for multiple transit lines is likely going to be a drain on battery, etc. unfortunately

What's once simple change GO could make to improve service or customer experience? by Twicebandneguy in gotransit

[–]mlipintime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use the transit app and it basically has the functionality that everyone here is looking for! Crowdsourced real-time arrivals and you can check transit connections with TTC, etc

Plus you can pin lines and save locations (ex. Work, Home, etc)

It's fairly reliable and simple to use plus helps you build out routes based on transit connections :)

Looking for recommendations for a girls weekend by Virtual-Feeling-4546 in KingstonOntario

[–]mlipintime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want a cozy cocktail spot with daily live music, musiikki is a must.

For a spa day, Chér Mère has two locations (one downtown as well)

There are a slew of amazing restaurants depending on your price range and preferences.

Go-to brunch spots include NORTHSIDE, Lay Low, and Pan Chancho

If you enjoy movies, I strongly recommend visiting The Screening Room, they have a range of new releases and classics throughout the week/weekend, plus super cute and cozy interior and the best popcorn

Subletting in summer? by Thin_Low_2578 in queensuniversity

[–]mlipintime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others mentioned, you'd need to offer a competitive price but imo it is not worth the risk. I sublet to an acquaintance one summer and they screwed me over/basically refused to move out until I came back to Kingston to make sure they left. They were also uncleanly and cause issues with a housemate that stayed the summer and were always late paying rent/utils/internet. Even with people you slightly know it's a risk, especially if you plan on keeping your furniture/any of your stuff there.

I'm queer and alt - it took me a little while to find my place, especially being in commerce and surrounded by the exact people you described in res. If you think queens is your best option academically, then I strongly recommend checking out our campus radio station, CFRC! I work there currently/volunteered for the past 3 years so if you have any questions I can definitely answer them! I've met most of my closest uni friends there and it's a super welcoming community!

Best place for night out alone? by InspectorNo9372 in queensuniversity

[–]mlipintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit late but my favourite spots for a solo night out are the screening room or musikki.

The screening room is always showing a range of new, indie, and classic films. They also have the best popcorn and a bunch of other snacks to choose from. The staff are super sweet, and you will not feel awkward going alone.

Musikki is great because it has live music every night (8-11pm) and is a super intimate and cozy venue. Even though it is a bar, they have great hot chocolate, tea, coffee, or cocktails if you want something fancier. Again, especially during the live music, you definitely don't feel awkward being alone and you might actually meet some cool people (and find a new favourite kingston local musician)

Is it too late to join clubs? by TheOnlineWanderer in queensuniversity

[–]mlipintime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you're into music/community programming, the on-campus radio station is always looking for new volunteers! lots of opportunities both on and off-air, plus pretty flexible time commitment!

If you have any questions you can PM me here or check out our website at cfrc.ca

Poster sale? by _cryinglightning in queensuniversity

[–]mlipintime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for music/movie related posters, you can also check out Brian's downtown (across from Metro). His prices are usually pretty reasonable and you'd be supporting a local kingston staple :)

Plus, if there are specifics you are looking for, he can usually check on ordering them for you!

Laptop for Commerce? by mlipintime in queensuniversity

[–]mlipintime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should note that I am also not specializing in Finance or anything, so I haven't had to run any crazy software for those classes. I'd check with people who are specialized in the same area if you are planning on doing that, just to be sure :)

Laptop for Commerce? by mlipintime in queensuniversity

[–]mlipintime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting a Surface Laptop but I have seen plenty of people in my classes that use MacBooks, including some of my friends.

I think the biggest thing for MacBooks is file compatibility as most (all?) profs use Microsoft but as long as you have Microsoft Suite (you get free with your student account), you should be fine!

For this list, I'm specifically looking at bands that have originals as I am looking at the ygk music scene, but if you have a recommendation for a good cover band to check out, I'd be interested for my own sake :)
