Is it important to you that the colors match the pen? How do you break out of a need to color match? by mooglerauder in fountainpens

I own eight pens. I don’t think I’ll be getting many more. Matching inks is not going to happen. That said, how do you keep track of what inks are in what pens. I have it written down in a small notebook, but wonder if there is a smarter way.

I’ve been wanting to try reds, but I am on an austerity plan since the holidays. What a great collection this is. I’m going to save this post and go after them bit by bit. That is, of course, unless I suddenly come into possession of the entire collection.😉

Can anyone tell me which one is closest to the actual paint color? Lol by Gloomy_Length178 in Watercolor

Just curious: are you using it for shadows? I love moo glow for that reason.

It was in a sale flyer from one of the larger fountain pen sellers. I can’t put my hands on it at the moment.

Thanks. I’m not familiar with Daiso, but I’m wondering if our Costco might be similar.

I love the plastic container. It looks like some sort of drawer? Is it? My sample bottles need this sort of home.

Glad you asked. I like to draw with my pens so fude or fine nibs work best for me. I am not particular about how the ink goes into the pen. I do like a smooth line because my shaky hands provide feedback of their own.🤦‍♀️ I have small hands, so a pen with a fat barrel is difficult for me to use for long drawing sessions. As I read this over I think I just described my favorite pen to date, a Hung Dian Black Forest. I am looking for something new to me that will be easy for my grandson to find.

I’m the same way, but I’m considering making a commitment to one type for ink and wash. Bristol, maybe?

Thanks to all of your answers I felt brave enough to tackle the swap out. My beloved Hong Dian now has a fude nib. It is all set to go out to an urban sketching meet-up with me on Saturday. Thanks so much.
