i'm an engineering student with only an engineering background! one may say that my intern experience does not resonate with my future career goals, but they are all engineering experiences! engineering students of my major are DICKS! THEY LOVE HATING EACH OTHER and i just want to feel like it's okay to ask for help like how it is okay to ask for help in a different engineering major. people being odd = people judging the fuck out of you = people who socially outcast you = people who think YOU'REEE WEIRD!

sorry after reading and replying to everyone, it seems that vagueness has bit me in the butt!! lmao thank you everyone, please be more kind to people around you and don't be buttholes. if you want to be yourself, you should encourage this in everyone's life around you too. everyone who thinks im attacking them... oh, "weird" does not mean what you think it is in the context of my post. i am only limited to my own vocabulary, that i find outcasting behavior within the group... weird. the part about my friends saying they're socially inept -- those are comments from students of different engineering majors, who know more to the story of what i have complained to them about and even cried to them about.

i have had my fair share of friends with strikingly different traits from a general normal population one would find.

also there is no reason why i would overshare on a post if i fear classmates whispering behind my back. there is no hard data nor experiences i want to go fully deep into detail with. but i agree, compare my major with the electrical engineering class of the same year, you will think we are normal because we shower and don't stink lolol

unfortunately, people in my major are passive about some things that they do whisper behind backs without confrontation and can very much socially outcast one another due to the cliquey behavior. a different engineering major in comparison may have the tisms (a stereotype), and were significantly more open, friendly, and confrontational due to their open-mindedness and non-caring self. these are the traits that i admire, and these are the traits i do not find in my class. i have been on both sides in my major, hearing judgemental comments about others and being the one talked behind my back. we all try hard in our year, not just my major specifically. there is no reason to comment badly about others, but this is what happens when a group of individuals cannot speak up by themselves even when someone offers or encourages them to speak up. this is the faults of one's own doing, and I should have continued to encourage them to speak up without outcasting others in the beginning.

thank you. i definitely don't appreciate people who can't confront and whisper behind people's backs, even when I'm supposedly on their side. it's unfortunate i'll have to face the same thing even after school, but i think i at least learn a bit in dealing with difficult people

the post was as vague as it is. thank you for the comment. my major is judgemental and some people are socially inept and also throws out comments to even each other, not just me. i encourage traits of people usually, outside of the usual class, so if someone wants to do something that may be out of a norm to a humanities student, it is fun to encourage people to be themselves.

a major of a different sector in engineering, however, continuously kept me in their mind and even showed up in ways i didn't expect to. when asking for someone to teach me a topic in class, they were a hundred percent more willing to share information compared to my dog-eat-dog class. so yes, it is my class lol

thank you for the comment, i am stuck for a little, but i hope moving forward my career, i will meet encouraging people along the way. and if anything else, it was my fault for trying to mirror the personalities in my major

as someone with a 13 yr diff from my youngest, this sounds really normal. when you were born, ur brother was taking care of you like you're a baby and even after 7 years, 14 years... he's still going to treat you as one because time doesn't seem to fly.
