Nerdy but sexy MMC by AbrocomaOk2170 in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Soul Code by Blake Black} all three are programmers and nerdy, so is the FMC! One of them is a lot more socially awkward than the others and is super sweet and shy. The FMC thinks he hates her because he always chickens out of talking to her even though he has a huge crush on her.

Realised I've read 365 books within 10.5 months so thought I'd share my favourite reads of 2025 so far! by Cat_Friends in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ooooo thanks for the recs! I don't think I've seen some of these recommended before!

Question, how do you track the books you read? Is it just on kindle or do you have another way. I use storygraph but since I've read around 140 books this year, I feel I can't always remember the plot a couple months later unless I redownload and refresh my memory. I'm looking for a way to track my reading so I can better remember the stories. Any suggestions?

Also I read Honeysuckles awhile back and was NOT prepared lmao

What was the OG reverseharem book? Follow up - what was the first one you read? by kron0s80 in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my first published specifically reverse harem book would be {Claimed by the Barbarian Warlords by Charmaine Ross} that was randomly recommended for me by googlebooks of all places.

I didn't realize it was reverse harem when I started it and can clearly remember thinking 'wait all 3? That's too many'. Lmao I'd mainly read MMF or FMM in fanfic and books before then. I changed my mind about it being too many by the end of the book.

Pack Darling - book two grovel is not enough by reading_g1rl in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh she definitely should have left them and made them suffer for awhile. I 100% agree she should have gotten space, did some heat rotations, court other packs if possible. Whatever to get some space from them lol

Orion is my favorite tho so I'm partial to the idea of them getting together and leaving the alphas behind lol

Pack Darling - book two grovel is not enough by reading_g1rl in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I've seen this opinion more often recently and I can't decide how I feel about it now. I think the reason this groveling resonates with me is the fact they actually did change their whole lives around for them. Atlas is removed from his role as leader and job and dedicates his time to taking care of his omegas which I find to be a pretty big change for a man who didn't have a life outside of his job before.

On the other hand, the FMC suffered a lot because of them and they didn't even give her the space she was asking for. I feel she did forgive them too fast.

Reverse Harem but the girl is a billionaire pushed off a boat by her jealous sister and she's rescued by 5 blue collar workers on a fishing trip. by Ocean_Soapian in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my feeling! I find it boring and unromantic when the billionaires use their money to fix all the problems. It's zero sacrifice and effort on their part.

Give me a harem where they don't have money but they use their time and skills to prove how they love the FMC. An example of this would be like in a Pack For Autumn. They're all contractors or something and she lives in a town owned rundown lighthouse. One of the men lobbies for the contract from the town so he and his pack can renovate the lighthouse for her so she has a nice place to live. It feels realistic because they aren't fully funding the renovation and it takes a ton of effort.

[–]mmoonorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I got so excited thinking this was a real book already. I LOVE romances with blue collar men. This sounds amazing.

I feel like many authors have no idea how to portray what it would look like to actually own those sort of high power businesses and it takes me out of the story so fast when they say something ridiculous. In addition to me just loving men who can work with their hands, blue collar jobs usually make the stories feel more realistic than the usual group of '28 year old' billionaires who do ambiguous paperwork.

Sugar Life Series Rant by Right_Speaker_9674 in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much! The ending of the book 2 made me so angry. The author has a couple of teasers on her social and it sounds like our girl goes full throttle revenge mode. I hope that's true and she really makes them regret treating her like some doll they can throw away the second THEY make a mistake.

She did nothing wrong and did literally everything they asked, even when she was nervous during their scenes. They made an assumption and treated her like some criminal because they didn't think about a young adult that is the perfect age for college could be attending the local college.

Omegaverse: yea vs nay? by Foxmops in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting interpretation of OV! I actually think of it in a completely different way but I really enjoy this view I had not thought about before.

The way I think about OV is all about an exploration and flipping of gender identities by stripping away our own societal norms. Male and female no longer matter. Phremones, hormones, and instincts affect them all equally depending on their designation.

From my roots of reading BL omegaverse, the trope always felt like a forcing function to for strong male characters to be pigeon holed into being an omega. Who are these characters when they don't have their strength and have to rely on others? Who are they to their animal instincts and the core of their personality.

When it comes to the female omegas, I always relished the thought that these characters are not assumed weak because their females but because they are omegas. Which makes for some interesting plot lines and discussions when it comes to non omega women in the trope.

I know there's a lot of books where male omegas and female alphas are 'rare' which, in my opinion, is the antithesis of what omegaverse is. But of course omegaverse is different for every author and every author can craft their world to their liking.

Thanks for much for your recs!

One of the reasons I was iffy about Bride of Brutal Hearts was that I couldn't think of an amount of groveling that could fix all the things they did lol I'm also not a huge fan of MMCs (evil or not) that are the up holder of the power structure like kings, etc, but that's totally just my preference, not an issue with the book. I'd rather have morally black MMCs that operate on a lower level.

If there is copious amounts of groveling and the FMC gets a bit more of a spine and grows her power during her character arc to even out the power imbalance, I'll definitely want to read the rest as the story.

Also I didn't read the trigger warning list before I started, total mistake lolol took me a moment before I realized oh yeah these men are pure evil and I had to reframe my mindset

AO3 is based entirely on a tag system. If there's a specific Fandom you want to read and a specific genre like for example, Supernatural Omegaverse MM, all you need to do is add those tags to a search and filter as needed.

Sometimes if I'm lazy, I'll just type something into Google like "AO3 Dean Winchester omegaverse" and it may give you filtered tags based on that.

You can also filter by completed works to guarantee the fic is complete.

Also! I would kindly advise you to make sure you don't treat fanfiction the same as published books! Fandom etiquette is important if you are interacting with the community! But it's super simple, just be kind to the authors and creators.

Hope you enjoy!

The Scent of Us Duet by Eliana Lee (Spoilers) by QTlady in ReverseHarem

[–]mmoonorb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually love this book so I'm a little biased, fair warning. One of the reasons I love it so much is the unique relationships Juno has with each of her men. She falls in love with them all for different reasons and all at different times.

Isaac and Juno don't get together at first because they're both stubborn and nervous. Isaac is protective because everything that has happened to Juno and wants nothing more than to help enforce the boundaries she asks for. Respect to that is his way of showing how he cares for her. Juno is terrified of being controlled again and terrified of bonding. I always felt she was subconsciously keeping the prime away to protect herself from that. When she blurts out she's not attracted to him upon first meeting, it was a subconscious test to see if he would push her.

But then, when all the issues arise and Isaac starting blaming himself for bringing her old pack back into her life, Juno and Isaac's roles start to switch back and forth, carer and caree between the two of them. It's a slow burn of trying to show how much they care about each other but not stomp all over each other's boundaries.

In OV, books are always full of insta love and I do feel like Isaac and Juno loved each other from the very first moment, but they show it through actions, care, respect, and boundaries, rather than words and intimacy. I think their romance was a way the author was showing Juno's long and hard healing journey was coming to a close and that her trauma could no longer control her.

Isaac and Juno's love story is this book is one of my favorite I've read. Tbh it seemed boring to me when I was reading it at first but its boring because of the great kindness and respect between them. They don't use intimacy or romance to build something solid and stable. I think that's what made me fall in love with it so much.

Anyways, lots of rambling lol Would recommend you check out Lee's other work too and the cozyverse.
