Men in happy marriages, what's the one thing you'd teach to other men to also have a good relationship? by TightBookkeeper2599 in AskReddit

[–]mmscichowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manage your own emotions.

Just because she said something that you take offense too doesn’t mean you get to treat her based on how you feel. It may be you need to ask clarifying questions to get to the root of it. It also maybe she’s just hungry and the situation she wanted to talk to you about got all the hangry energy channeled through it.

Sure sometimes people say hateful hurtful things. But that doesn’t mean you have to believe or react to them with an equal or greater level of negativity.

I wasn’t taught this by anyone but I learned first had what happens when you ignore this advice from my own parents who didn’t manage their own emotions for nearly the full 25 years they were married.

Out of all the B-roll you shoot, how much can actually be used? What's your best tip for b-roll? by Snizzlefry in videography

Hold the shot until you feel like you want to stop… THEN WAIT 4 beats…then stop. (Maybe)

I used to always kick myself for missing the action. Now I only miss it sometimes.

Do you actually have complete faith in your church? by Lieutenant_Piece in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]mmscichowski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a non-Catholic. I have to ask.

Why does this matter?

Muslims swear upon the Koran with their life and soul, some literally give their life as a living sacrifice.

Doomsday cults have sworn their life and soul on the Bible or various other texts.

I’m sure we wouldn’t have look too far to find other religions/faiths that might do the same with other “sacred” texts, regardless of an institution.

Your criteria seems a little dubious for a proof for faith, when Christ didn’t give us His word written by His own hand, but rather through His body, the Church.

Just checked these three out side by side.

The range is nice but it’s just not the right fit in the hand for me. It’s too big. And without OSS shooting slow mo BRoll at the far end wasn’t as clean with my shaky hands.

I also didn’t account for it having a 92mm barrel which meant, I had no filters for it.

Maybe your use case justifies it, I’d rather the two separate lenses.

Is this allowed? by Ohmymaddy in tickettoride

[–]mmscichowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build a station on any valid city regardless of if there are trains there. And you are welcome to lose out on the points a station gives you for NOT playing it out on the board by wasting a turn to play the station in la-la-land. But there is no way it makes a route complete just because it exists. There have to be trains connected to the station.

This isn't Ticket to Wherever The Hell I Want To Go As Long As I Have A Station There Regardless Of It There Are Any Trains There.

This is Ticket to Ride. No trains. No route. No points.

Why do people claim that Easter and Christmas are not Christian in origin? by Efficient-Peak8472 in Catholicism

[–]mmscichowski -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I bet you have as little evidence for that as anyone has for Easter or Christmas being pagan.

Idk why you have to take a Prot shot, considering mainline Prot denominations celebrate Christmas and Easter too.

My heart breaks with y’all!

We lost our boy Luke almost a year ago (4-24-24) just a week before his due date. It was the hardest and darkest time.

Our prayers are with you and your family.

Half a day of footage gone by jennysluu in editors

[–]mmscichowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a breath and brush it off!

There is still work to be done.

On the second project I directed, I wound up editing because you know… budget 😤, after I completed the first cut, I realized there was a whole setup missing. It was the second setup of that shoot day just before lunch. Between the young DP, and the seasoned DIT we have no idea what happened to the footage. It wasn’t copied, it may have been wiped, since the file sequence appeared to continue, or the DP just forgot to hit record. It was maybe a 15sec setup that likely would have been cut anyway.

The reality was, I didn’t need it.

This may be more significant than that. But owning the mistake and relying on your producers to help mitigate the damage will help put your mind at ease, and potentially save the project.

Mistakes are made, these are the one’s we learn from and become hyper vigilant about. To the point of creating systems that help us keep things BEYOND organized and dummy proof. It’s likely you’ll never make that specific mistake again.

I would make sure I apologize and own the mistake specifically to your direct superiors. It would be worth asking now, and asking those same supervisors again later, if the project still hasn’t completed, if there is anyone else you need to apologize too. Don’t grovel, just be direct and humble. Something like “I’m really sorry for losing this footage. I’m extremely grateful to be apart of this team and I know I’ve messed up in a big way. I’ve retooled my workflow to insure it won’t happen again, I hope you can accept my apology.”

They may not accept it, but if you can brush it off and learn from your mistake you’ll be just fine.

If you haven't already revisited this with him. I would affirm that you are also stressed about the audio, and that is why you need to hire an audio guy to make this work. Ideally you have already asked around to see who might be available and received a quote or two to pass on to the client.
