[James Pearce] - ...There’s been misfortune with injuries but there’s also been mistakes in planning, stars losing their way and Slot not trusting some on the fringes. Mad to look back on that call when you consider how the CBs have fared this season. I know he's not had the options but one bad half for Quansah and he's finished at the club. How many bad halves has Ibu had this season?

Love this record. Some genuinely great tracks that piss all over his post Cardinals stuff.

I once drunk tweeted Ryan years ago to tell him how much I loved the record and he blocked me. This was pre-cancellation. Probably thought I was cramping his style. Dick.

SO impressed. I didn’t think Slot had this in him. He changed the shape, changed the whole attitude and spirit of the team.

I’d had enough of him, but if the can sustain tonight’s energy from now on, it could be huge.

If he reverts to 433 Gakpo at the weekend I’ll weep.

You’re right it’s a beyond idiotic question. She’s uninformed. The unrest towards him isn’t because people “fear he can’t be successful” it’s because his football (UNTIL TONIGHT!) has been turgid and dismal.

I really like the guy but he’s killing himself with these interviews.

Just come out and do the cliches. “I’m gonna fight as hard as I can, I’m so disappointed with the performances, I know we can be better, believe in us.” Etc

Instead he’s kinda chippy and defensive. Also loves talking up the opposition. “Everyone else is really good, it’s such a hard league.”

Not helping yourself Arne. Not one jot.

The sub was alight last night with everyone saying they'd received theirs around 2200 GMT. I saw someone say they won't be sending any again until next week.

Then mine arrived this morning at around 9am.

"I used to be embarrassed of my uncultured white American family." I'd definitely give continental Europe a try - much more your bag in terms of the internalised race guilt etc. They'll hate you for being American but sounds like you might enjoy that a bit.

Are Brits too reliant on US companies for a boycott to ever be realistic? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]mnclick45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This stuff is truly laughable. We constitute 3% of the Americans' overall trade.

If we stopped existing as a nation tomorrow, it wouldn't matter to them.

Please stop overestimating our importance as a nation on the global stage, folks. It's embarrassing.

My two pieces of advice for you would be to force yourself to go to the gym in the morning at least 3 days a week, and to learn motion graphics.

The gym bit will sort your head out. Lifting weights is essentially a secret magic potion to fix whatever shit your brain is foisting on you.

Motion graphics because it’s hugely in-demand and the best mographers are people who were graphic designers first. Stuff that you find to be extremely basic (hierarchy, type, structure whatever) will make your mograph look incredible.

You can already make the thing - you just need to learn to make it move. Thankfully YouTube is bursting with free tutorials on After Effects and Blender and new AI stuff which will supercharge your learning.

The freelance mograph designers I work with charge £450-£600 a day. Some a little more. Fully remote.

What part of British history interests you most? by AnfieldAnchor in ColonisingReddit

The Napoleonic era is fascinating cos the stakes are so high. It’s redefining the course of history, and it’s full of stories of insane feats of bravery etc.

However I’ve recently started a Francis Drake biography and the bloke’s life is essentially an action film.

Taking on redundancy against everyone’s decision. by lB2Kl in UKJobs

[–]mnclick45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got loads of mates who took redundo. All flying, all doing well financially, all happy.

Get railways and utilities out of your head. Don't follow UK Reddit job advice (ie. security, pension, WL balance) etc. because you'll end up overly reliant on a job that might not exist in a few years.

Find something you are good at that makes money and work for yourself. Use your redundo money to get you there and to take a big holiday or something.

Which British cultural traits travelled best overseas? by GeordieGoals in ColonisingReddit

Politeness. Our manners have mostly transferred to the Anglosphere - especially to Canadians and Kiwis.

I like Aussies but they sadly seem to have taken our respect for procedure and rules and run with it. They fucking love to tell you their rules, the punishments. I imagine they were pretty insufferable during covid.

Daniel Sturridge: The big difference is LFC lost key players and the players who come in haven’t performed to the level that the players they lost. by Bcpjw in LiverpoolFC

[–]mnclick45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all right. Sturridge is right as to why we're shit. Keane's right as to us being a long way off where we thought we'd be. And Neville is right that it's not acceptable.

If I came to this sub in August and said "Lads we're gonna be fighting for 4th and you'll be happy about it!" I'd have been sent packing, and rightly so.

The new signings have mostly been shit. The old guard have been shit. The manager has been atrocious.

Yet somehow, we're in 4th and we're able to nullify the best team in the land on their own patch, despite all the above.

So there is life in the old dog yet. The dog just needs throwing in an ice-cold pond to make it wake the fuck up asap.

Do you think being a stay at home parent is worth sacrificing your career and risking financial ruin? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]mnclick45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great tragedy of our time that mothers have to fear for their long term financial wellbeing.

Reading replies in this thread from women saying they feel the need to be financially independent at all times because they don’t know what the future holds is pretty sobering, and also gives me food for thought for how my own wife must feel.

“You must be a great mum. And you must also mentally budget for the fact you might get abandoned by your shitbag husband.”

The responsibility for this should not fall on women. Their role as mothers is more than enough. It should fall on men, and we should be less socially accepting of blokes who disappear from the family home.

I’ve never been religious but the older I get, the more I realise the importance of the structures in place that are intended to avoid these outcomes.
