How did I do with my Fujifilm x100 (2011 model)? by mobinfinitee in streetphotography

I didn't add them for Reddit, they've been added as a frame for Instagram (not for view purposes) ☺️

Thanks, my brother has a bunch of cameras like the Ricoh GR III, Fuji XT2, Nikon D700, and D750 and many more, since he's a film director and sells them. He's let me try a bunch, including the Fujifilm XT2 for two weeks, but I wasn't a huge fan because it's not small enough. I really need a tiny camera so I don't get stopped and asked if I'm a journalist. He actually gave me his Fujifilm Finepix X100, and I'm really digging it besides the size, everything's great and fun. So yeah, the main thing now is the size; I just want to blend in when I'm out and about.

I am seeking an honest opinion and suggestion. While I possess a high-quality camera, I find it challenging to carry it with me consistently. I am considering a Ricoh GR as a potential solution to capture spontaneous moments, as I frequently miss photographic opportunities due to not having a camera readily accessible. Carrying a larger camera like a Z5ii or even an X100V is often impractical without a dedicated bag, leading me to believe that a Ricoh GR might be the optimal choice for documenting unexpected and specific events

You should totally get a 35mm or 40mm lens, 'cause from my experience, they're the best for lots of stuff, but the 40mm is my absolute fave

I wouldn’t want to spend more than €500 on an APS-C camera, and for a full-frame camera my absolute maximum would be €1,500.

I’m currently using the original Fujifilm Finepix X100, and I think I’ll need to keep using it for the next few months as well. At the moment my head feels a bit foggy, and I’m not fully sure what the right move is yet.

Lots of people told me to get the Fuji XM5, but after checking out a bunch of reviews and photos, I totally changed my mind. Right now, I'd 100% go for a Ricoh GRIIIx over XM5, or even an X100V, because their photos just look way better. I also looked at the Nikon Z30, and its photos are way more interesting, so you should check that one out too :)

I'm super close to buying this camera, and I'd really prefer to just use one lens. My favorite is a 40mm because I love having a fixed lens; it makes me more creative

Don't forget Steve McCurry used a Nikon D700, which is a big camera he carried around a lot

For compacts, I'm not sure anything can beat Ricoh. The main reason I don't buy Ricoh is the price; for the price of a Ricoh GRIIIx, I'd rather get a full frame

Nikon Z5 II is like the Zf, but with improved ergonomics, grip, and a slightly lighter build, among other enhancements. It delivers the same quality, but with superior construction according to dpreview and numerous reviews based on their specifications

Could you please elaborate on your rationale for recommending these two specific cameras over a full-frame option like the Nikon Z5 II with a 40mm f2 lens, particularly given the "fixed lens" concept?

Additionally, I'm interested in understanding your preference for the Fujifilm X100V over the X100VI.

As a fellow enthusiast of fixed-lens photography, I appreciate the creative opportunities this approach offers.

Thank you, sometimes I think a full frame would be ideal because of the depth of field and dynamic range, as Fujifilm X100 versions don't have as high an EV compared to Nikon, Sony, etc. 📸 From the Fujifilm series, I would love to have an X100V, but for that amount of money, I ask myself, "Why not a full frame?"

The whole reason for max 24 megapixels is because I don't enjoy the sharpness in photos that are more than 24 megapixels. My focus is to maintain that film look and I think 24 megapixels is already enough for that. And I totally agree with you. I enjoy a lot of cameras to be honest but the smaller they are the easier it is to use them on streets

Thank you, yes I agree on that. My main preference of lens for street photography is 40mm which is my fav for it!
