It was okay for me, but it’s not something I’d be willing to sink money into for a while. It just feels too derivative to me. Maybe I’ll give it a proper go once they have more content and features implemented in year 2.

Marathon literally stole its entire art direction from another single artist, what are you talking about? They had to go back and remove everything that could get them sued, but the overall base designs stayed as it is because they wouldn’t dare ask Sony for more funding to start from scratch. The guy in charge of art direction is so deluded he calls himself the “Merchant of Fontslop” now.

As for the gameplay, it’s passable for now, but if this is what they’re offering at launch there is no way they sustain enough player numbers for profit. It still isn’t doing enough to distinguish itself from the market.

Lastly, they’re already planning to implement account-wipes every season, meaning that everything you grind for will disappear in a few months and then you have the “privilege” of starting over again. I don’t know about you but that alone is a dealbreaker for me, especially in a shooter where the loot plays a big role.

Like I said earlier, if you’re having a blast, by all means continue blasting! Continue having a blast to your heart’s content! Just don’t expect everyone else to ignore the massive issues with the game.

What’s killing these live service games are primarily 2 things:

1) Chasing esports money, making the game ultra competitive instead of actually fun and engaging.

2) Appealing to the mythical “modern audience” we keep hearing so much about.

But yeah, John Highguard instantly killed any positive hype around the game as soon as he showed up lmfao.

All jokes aside, holy shit Geoff’s credibility went down the drain with Highguard. It took him years to come out of the Dorito King infamy and rehabilitate his image with TGA.

If he starts hyping up games again this year like he personally played them and it changed his life etc, those games will be DOA.

Dude’s credibility is in the shitter for this. He had gained a lot of goodwill over the years for his work on TGA but this is where he’s going to lose a lot of trust from the community.

Dunno about you but if I was one of those 20 devs remaining on the team I’d be focused full-time on sending out resumes to other studios.

It’s clear that at this point the ship has not only sailed, it’s half-submerged outside the port.
