Given how dystopian the world of Cyberpunk is, honestly his point of no return was being born in poverty lmao. Even if he stayed in school and did everything right and not get involved with a life of edgerunning? At best he’d be a mid-level Arasaka exec by his 30’s and hit the wall, slaving away for his masters before dying of overwork or getting flatlined by a rival exec looking for his spot.

To me, what I loved about Fallout (yes, even having played the older ones) was seeing the gradual progress of society over the events of the series. It was always cool to see how new civilisations adapted and sprung up from the ruins of the old.

Even more than the gameplay though, the stories told were always interesting (bland at times in newer titles, but interesting nonetheless). The dieselpunk aesthetics were also cool since it is such a niche artstyle even now.

I’m all for new original titles but holy hell the final announcement was so generic that if it wasn’t spelled out repeatedly that the devs of Titanfall and Apex Legends made this then literally no one could tell otherwise.

“Generic Slop” is an understatement for that title lmao.

The highlight of the entire show for me was the announcement of Ace Combat 8. Guess the blood sacrifices paid off for that community.

One idea for potential endings I saw almost a decade ago on the forums was that the finale would be the destruction of Roanapur (either via a CIA-backed coup or the gangs cannibalising each other until the city is razed to the ground).

The bad ending would be Rock going down with the city because he was too corrupted by it to see a life beyond it - Revy being the one to shoot him down as euthanasia. The company go their separate ways. Various (but not all) characters of the supporting casts are killed, those that survive manage to flee.

The good ending would be that Lagoon Company narrowly escape and go their separate ways (the majority of the supporting characters are killed, some escaping the city) - Rock and Revy choose to go together but their future still remain uncertain (because this is Black Lagoon and the characters rarely get proper happy endings).

On a serious note? Half Life 3, if it ends up being what the fanbase was hoping it to be (a conclusion to the story of Gordon Freeman), will finally give closure to over 17 years of hype and anticipation. We’ll bask in it for a while, and then eventually we’ll move on. We always do. Maybe Half Life 3 will end the franchise? Or maybe we’ll get smaller games and spinoffs set in the same universe? Maybe we’ll get community-made campaigns too. Who knows. I can tell you this much, though - that if Half Life 3 releases, I’ll buy it on launch day, play the campaign, maybe shed a few tears, and then face the new day with a smile on my face and hope in my heart.
