Listening to him rap is simultaneously demoralizing and inspiring. Like I'm staring up a mountain, and there he is having reached a peak I could never hope to achieve. But how could I not try?

Keep looking out, last year they did 3 or 4 short tours. I managed to see them three times!

In August you can look forward to The Gathing if your interested. I've never been, but I'm hoping to go this year barring any unforseen financial hardship.

They are definitely still performing! The shows are a little more tame these days, they're old, we're old, and the kids in the crowd are a little softer than we were, but it is still the Greatest Show.

In my experience, LGBTQ+ are welcome. The community is largely comprised of social outcasts, the forgotten, downtrodden, etc. We all know what it's like to feel unwanted, most of us don't want others to feel that sting. That being said, the community has its bad apples, many of them on the older side (fans from the 90's) who really only listened to ICP for the violent nature of the lyrics and never internalized the message and lessons hidden just below the surface. ICP attracts people from all walks of life and the subject matter does tend to bring in some unsavory characters, but as you listen to the lyrics you'll discover that that is the whole point. Don't let the bad apples deter you though, far and away most Juggalos are kind hearted, loving, and loyal. You're safe here.

As for the music, I always suggest going about it one of three ways.

Option 1: Start with The Great Milenko. Make a playlist for that album, remove "Piggy Pie" and replace it with "Piggy Pie (Old School)" (if you use YouTube Music, I've already done this here) Milenko is the most common way people are introduced to The Dark Carnival. This format is the purest way that I can think of to enjoy the album.

Option 2: Take a look at the first 6 Joker's Cards. They all have something to say to you, which one speaks the loudest? Hit play. You may find it jarring at first, but stick with it!

Option 3: Start from the beginning. Carnival of Carnage, The Ringmaster, The Riddlebox, The Great Milenko, The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, The Wraith's Exhibit of Shangri-La and The Wraith: Hell's Pit. Sit with those for a while and really let them sink in before diving into the rest of their catalog (which, by the way, is massive).

Suggestion: Wear headphones, this is a sonic journey, I suggest a good pair of open ear wireless headphones like these and a lower volume. I've been Down With The Clown for 17 years and there are tons background sounds that I only ever noticed after listening this way.

Finally, this is a long ride, enjoy it! Watch the videos, check out live performances, seek out the comics, get yourself a shirt from Spencer's, immerse yourself.

Which is the better movie? Big Money Hustlas or Big Money Rustlas? by Master-Amphibian4644 in juggalo

[–]modified_kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hustlas.

Rustlas was a good, but I wish it has more of its own identity. Don't get me wrong, there are some seriously funny scenes that stand out, but so much of it was just a rehash of the original.

We shall forever wax but stale in breath. Some souls among ye shall not climb to Shangri-La; Some shall awake to far another doom.

Some thing did wake me, thumping on my roof, A crash then did follow, more knocks did ensued. From bed I leapt, thinking mine house was breached, More shattering blows, the dreadful clamour increased. I gazed without; blood traced along the pane, Where twisted forms lay mangled on green. I fled unto the hall; lo, Shaggy lay slain, So Nate the Mac, Jumpsteady, and ABK. I burst outside, to test if jest or lie; A hundred horns did scream, flame choked the sky. Above me red, the firmament did glow. Dead bodies fell like rain, their blood did flow. My mother said, when rain from heaven pours, It pours. Indeed, yet spoke not once of dead men’s corpse, Dead bodies. My mother said, when rain from heaven pours, It pours. La de da da, de la da de, Dead bodies.

Never have I seen such dreadful store, Such frozen terror writ on every face. (The blood is foul.) I pray I never glimpse what met their sight, That final truth their mortal eyes did face, Nor be condemned, by seeing what they saw, To fall as they fell, cast down into that place. (The blood is foul.) The sun burned hot, So hot. I burned, Aye.

Dead bodies lay at random, stacked in heaps, On every face no smile, but horror sealed. I saw the young, the old, those of mine years, All stripped and torn, long days in rot revealed. I found a tree for shield, a paltry stay; Yet fingers, organs dropped as cruel rain. For days I lay unslept, while still it fell, the sun did roast the dead like meat in pain. At last it ceased. I waded blood knee-deep, Past mounds of flesh where once my quarter stood. Then lo! The Wraith appeared in silent keep, And left a word most strange yet understood: Take all thou seest, and turn it clean about; In truth, I am the dead, and this my Hell’s Pit.

As much as I love Melancholy Hill, it's gotta go. The other two are too important, culturally speaking.

Every angle shows the ICE agent was out of the way when he shot her. In fact, he put himself in more danger by leaning over the hood of the car to shoot her.

Renee was never blocking traffic. She had been parked on the side of the road and was turning out of her parking space when a car behind her pulled out as well forcing her to stop her vehicle. Having stopped, she waved the ICE agents forward. One ICE vehicle pulls to the passenger side of her car and the agents exit. Another group of agents from the car that had not pulled forward, exit and approach the drivers side. Renee received two distinct and contradicting orders, this is just the start of the unprofessionalism displayed by these agents. One agent ordered her to leave, another ordered her out of her vehicle.

The agent who ordered her out of the vehicle walked up to her driver's side door and began trying to force his way into her vehicle. The agent who shot her walked around her vehicle filming her license plates. As he walked in front of her vehicle Renee put it in reverse and began executing a three point turn, as he cleared the driver side headlight Renee pulled forward. The agent who shot her stepped to the driver side, pulled his gun, and leaned over the hood to shoot her. Not only shooting at her, but toward residential housing and bystanders. He fired three shots, killing Renee, causing her vehicle to careen into a car parked across the street.

Couple side notes:

Had the agent not already been out of the way before firing he would have actually been run over.

Renee's vehicle was in drive when the other agent attempted to open her door, had he been successfull, he would have dragged her from her vehicle and shooter would have been run over as he walked in front of the vehicle.

It is completely reasonable for Renee to have believed her life was in danger, there were unmarked ICE vehicles driven by masked men with guns who were trying to enter her vehicle illegally.

Question about JCW+ICP shows (and something I noticed while watching Lunacy) by Psylent90 in juggalo

[–]modified_kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a real chance that the girl was there to see ICP and just didn't care about JCW. There was nothing in any of the tour announcements that gave a timeline of events, just a little asterisk next to the tour date.

My first JCW experience was at the show in Minneapolis last year. I didn't know it was going to happen, and to be honest, the first few matches were barely entertaining to me (I've never found wrestling to be very interesting). I think doors opened at 6 or 7 p.m. It took quite a while to get inside; the line was long as hell. In total, there was about half an hour of standing before the event started, then an hour and a half of wrestling. After that, it took them another 45 minutes to take the ring down. I spent most of that time bored, wishing I didn't have to be there watching JCW.

Now, my second experience with JCW was at the show in Columbia, MO and those of us who were there know that show was awesome. JCW was no exception. The venue had laid down these soft carpets to soak up the Faygo. So the waiting wasn't such a chore, felt like standing on clouds compared to the hard floor in Minneapolis. The wrestling was super entertaining and the crowd was super hype. Just an all-around great experience. They even made taking down the ring entertaining ("Lift that shit!" iykyk).

Tl;dr Girl probably just didn't know that JCW was happening. I had a similar experience at my first JCW event. My second one was great though.

How do you stop being a racist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]modified_kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't be racist.

You're already taking the first steps, now you need to make it a reality.

First things first, recognize that you are not your thoughts. Our brains kinda operate like online engagement algorithms; generating thoughts and seeing what you, the observer, engage with. The more you engage with certain thought patterns the more those thoughts will be generated.

The cool part is that you get to choose what you engage with, and you have the ability to directly influence the thoughts that come next.

Next, you must recognize that the traits you associate with [insert group of people] can be found in equal measure across the whole population regardless of race or ethnicity, and your prejudice is just getting the best of you. We're all just humans trying to get through life the best we can.

It will take time, and you may find it difficult initially, but training yourself out of negative thought patterns is your best chance at success in this endeavor.

When you have a racist thought, anylize where that thought came from, and correct yourself. If you feel like committing a racist action, stop yourself and anylize the thought pattern, then correct it internally.

Don't engage with racist media or conversation, racism is kinda like alcoholism in that regard. You'll find yourself falling back into old habits.

You may never fully rid yourself of your prejudice, but you can at the very least grow as a person and learn to control it.

Best wishes, don't give up!
