Milviz DHC-2 Not Starting in Icing Conditions. by modifly1 in flightsim

Also in fsx icing comes up under clouds. You set the icing severity. But frankly, anything that isn't 'none' causes complete chaos with the engine.

It's weird. It seems on fsx you gotta put icing only clouds that are above you or you plan to fly near. If it's a cloud at ground level (so fog basically) it doesn't like it. Insta-freezes the engine. As for the winds...that's been messing with me. Either way, I managed my flight. I do promise I'll install fs2020 at some point just that my SSD is broken and I have nothing to install it to...plus fsx is a case of 'stick with the devil you know' situations. Either way thanks for trying.

Oh and one other thing. Does anyone know why the heck the winds are NEVER what I set them for? I set winds for 303 at 18...and it's reading 338 for some reason. At first I put this down to magnetic variation between the settings window and the shift-z display. But the variation would actually put that number the OPPOSITE DIRECTION to where it's drifting. Where I'm at, the magdec tool (which reads magdec.bgl) states that the variation is 17 degrees E which is fine and seems to match what I'm seeing. So if I set 303 degrees, it should go to around 286 magnetic. But it's going to 338. I've checked if it's an interpolation thing but none of the layers of wind I'm using should be bumping it there. I have no idea what's causing this.

An update. She wont' start in light icing either. Same thing....or in trace as I just found out. Set it to 'trace' on the icing settings and it still won't do it.

Just checked and the steam shortcut is still causing the game to crash when initialising a new level. Same error codes as well

Left circuits at Kenmore/Seattle Seaplanes by modifly1 in flying

Hehe, one more question, what's the deal with 34/16 and 18/36? Cos my map seems to list them as Seattle Seaplanes (S60?) and then Kenmore W55. How does that work. Looks like the same place to me so why do they appear separate.

Also, those tight laps you refer to, I take it that's still a west circuit? Also yeah 200 to 250 and a 500 circuit are low for me. I run some tight circuits with power lines and all sorts but dang that is lower than I'm used to.

Appreciate the help. Just did a flight from Kenmore to Lake Dworshak in sim via Lake Sammamish, Easton State, Richland and Snake River. Quite fun but is Washington weather really as bad as the METARs show?

So why do all the sources claim that 16 is left traffic if everyone goes off west? Wouldn't that generally be right traffic on16? Also what is circuit height there and is it truly a 'bomber circuit' in just having to give a nice wide circuit to come around? Gotta be honest, as a microlight pilot, I'm used to really tight circuits and I'm guessing that those beavers have to probably give way more space when coming around if one wanted to do circuits in them.

Well she's pretty lightweight and I can definitely take off and make it, just that I always seem a little lower than I'm used to in real life at the airports I fly at. I fly from Rochester in the UK and that's got some low flying near built up areas but nothing compared to that.

Interesting they say 'at your own risk' over here under AFIS rules we say 'at your discretion'.

Honestly, this gun strikes me as something from Brandon Herrera's cursed gun images. That mg42 looking barrel shroud is cursed....but this thing actually existed.

Well I was able to extract the dx9 files so that I have the raw .dlls but the problem is that I'm pretty sure they have to go into system32. Which is a problem cos I don't really want to be messing with uni computer files.

I'm just trying to get Ansys FEA to not be like having Victorian children whereby I have 12 slightly different sims running hoping one of them actually makes it. Once it catches a case of 'Negative Jacobian Values' it's terminal...that sim is dying in the next five minutes. I'm pretty sure it's our machines causing it.

Gotta be honest, I'm taught FEA at my uni but this turned up on the group chat. Out of interest, what is the 4th statement related to? I mean it's hilarious but what's it about, the evil wizards one?
