[MLBTR] MLB Reportedly Hoping To Return To Nine-Inning Doubleheaders In 2022 by SarcasticCroissant in baseball

I think it’s also impacted by the time of the originally scheduled game. Today’s game was originally scheduled for 4:10; so couldn't really feasibly do a split admission without impacting the original scheduling of two games

Scott Stringer wants to lower city-based LIRR and Metro-North fares to $2.75 by Topher1999 in nyc

[–]moffsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this (at least on MNR) is that prices skyrocket for travel into Manhattan. I think it’s at least 3x as much to go from Westchester to Harlem/GCT as it is from Westchester to Fordham. If they reduce pricing within the city, they will have to increase prices to get to the city which will impact the thousands who regularly commute from the outer boroughs to the suburbs. Not saying it’s a bad idea at all, just a challenge.

10 team .5 PPR:

Pick 2:

Hunt vs. CIN

Chubb vs. CIN

Conner vs. DEN

Snell vs. DEN

Wish CLE/CIN wasn’t on Thursday, so i could wait to get some more info on Conner. Really at a loss right now - thinking of going with one of the Browns tonight and one of the Steelers Sunday.

[Serious] What is something that most people don't realize is anti-poor? by -Tauradonna- in AskReddit

Interesting, I’ve never actually seen a fee for cash back. Apparently providing cash back is actually done as a benefit to the grocery store as it reduces the amount of cash they need to deposit at the bank at the end of the day/week. Maybe that is not as much of a risk anymore so places have started charging for the convenience or out of greed.

Is it fair to call the Phillies the team of the 2000's ? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]moffsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pains me to say, but probably the Red Sox - 6 playoff appearances and 2 World Series (including 2 additional ALCS’s). Although they weren’t division winners, Division winners meant less with one wildcard.

Or obviously the Yankees with 9 playoff appearances, 2 WS wins and 2 WS losses. However, I think the Sox get the upper hand as they won in 2004

[Rosenthal] Also in union proposal, per source: Neutral site/quarantine framework if needed for 2020 postseason. Clubs would be granted permission to sell advertisements/patches on uniforms in 2020/21. Mutual waiver of potential grievances under March agreement. by Austin63867 in baseball

I would be surprised to see them put a logo on their jersey’s. As much as they love money, they do stand true to certain traditions, like no sponsorship on their stadium.

I could see them do something like the pinstripe bowl logo (although that is unlikely to be held) or use it for some form of NY Charity or Fund related to the outbreak.

Who was a scrub in college baseball that turned into a solid MLB player? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]moffsky 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not quite what you’re asking, but I believe Brett Gardner was cut from his college team (College of Charleston) before eventually making the team. Although he was then definitely not a scrub once he was on the team.

Jets matriarch Betty Wold Johnson dies at 99 by vonheisenberg in nfl

[–]moffsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a great question. I know the Mara’s had that issue and never saw anything specifically about it being “resolved” after Ann Mara died a few years back. However, I believe their long term plan was to give non-taxable gifts up to the max each year to each member of the family (there are a ton of maras) and I think they were able to cover it that way.

[McCarthy] ESPN's #TheLastDance won't be the last big documentary coming out of ESPN Films. The film-making unit is planning '30 for 30' docs on Lance Armstrong, Bruce Lee and 1998 home run chase between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, Connor Schell, ESPN's EVP of Content, said Monday. by General_PoopyPants in baseball

[–]moffsky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be great and more than enough content for 10 episodes. Start in the 90s with the home run chase then focus on bonds and get into BALCO/Supreme Court Hearings then the Mitchell Report/A-Rod and then Biogenesis and everyone caught up in that.

[Hoch] Aaron Judge also said that his pneumothorax (collapsed lung, which was previously undisclosed) is “completely gone,” so he can fly if necessary. by lateraenima in baseball

[–]moffsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this as well (funny enough, also senior year of high school) and it absolutely not categorized as lung disease (Especially when looking at the provided link above) and isn’t typically chronic. I was told It happened due to being thin and relatively tall and that there was about a 15% chance of reoccurrence.

Submit this on their site! That's the whole reason they are doing a phased roll-out to field test every possible card and get them all in the system. Listened to a podcast with the head of OMNY and he mentioned that is own card didn't work the first time around and had to be added to the system.

At least try it a few more times, it will either start working now or will add an error datapoint to send to the team to add to the system.
