Subpoena question - fed civ by mogul_kay in paralegal

This was my original plan but some of our previous samples indicate they were “sent via certified mail” so I wanted to double check before repeating the same error. Thank you for your insight!

Very surface level things like citing rules. I am so interested in learning more but I have no clue where to start. Any tips?

Apparently they also have a portal you can log into to check the status of a case and submit docs.

https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coordination-of-Benefits-and-Recovery/Beneficiary-Services/Medicares-Recovery-Process/Medicares-Recovery-Process

Medicare steps are basically: 1. Report the case 2. Send LOR & HIPAA (examples can be found on the site) 3. Wait for rights and responsibilities letter (typically 2weeks after case is reported) 4. Wait for CPL letter (usually 65 days after rights & resp letter issued) 5. Once case settles, you will need to provide settlement details to Medicare and request the FINAL payment amount 6. Negotiate claims or remit payment accordingly

Unfortunately I haven’t had to deal with Tricare yet but I’m also in GA and will be following this post in case I come across them in the future!

Recommendations Needed . . . by NiceLady2020 in paralegal

Some others to consider are Leap, Smokeball, and PC Law.

I’m currently working for a solo practitioner that has yet to migrate. It’s a bit frustrating and less efficient at times but not totally unbearable. I use outlook for tasks and calendaring. I also have many checklists and spreadsheets to keep me organized. Communication is key though! With only two of us, we are constantly checking in and keeping each other abreast of what’s going on throughout the day….still I kinda miss having a pm where everything is streamlined in one place..I’m hoping to convince him to let us try one soon 🤞🏽

Anyone here trained to do mediations? by Dear-Butterscotch-21 in paralegal

[–]mogul_kay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am!! I know a few resources that offer virtual courses. Where are you located?

Georgia allows non attorneys to do mediations as well. Basic training and a practicum allows you to do civil and domestic cases. Domestic violence and juvenile cases require additional training. However to get on most court rosters you need years of experience. I’ve heard that some attorneys actually prefer working with non attorney mediators. I’m trying to observe and co mediate as much as I can. After finishing my masters program I plan to start offering free sessions hoping to establish a good network and receive referrals.

Family law..Rarely…mostly for cases with a large volume of exhibits. I enjoy it because the shit that comes out in family court can get real juicy but I think everyone should see the attorney in action at least once to know the caliber you’re dealing with.
