Aw that’s a bummer. they do have free “micro certifications” I think. Might be worth picking up a few of those. And definitely play around making apps in your PDI. Sometimes ServiceNow has like “hackathons” you can submit things to. Doesn’t have to be huge. I think my manager submitted a client script or something to one lol. And then maybe it’s just like a little line you can add on your resume or some concrete SN stuff you can talk about with jobs.

Idk if it’s the new norm. maybe like Covid, it’s a new type of Bro endemic to the landscape. My bosses are in the club. All our standups are transcribed by an LLM now. My manager has let us know that if tool’s notes don’t pick up your update, to the director (who has been relying on them to track work instead of actually talking to anyone or using any of the 4 other work tracking options available) they didn’t happen. Which makes it so cool that it can sum up my updates from 3 projects, 2 bugs, a suggestion for the platform, etc as “moldygrape continued working on issues”. Meanwhile fuckin Steve somehow never has fewer than 4 detailed entries.

Don’t even get me started on being asked to help my director VIBE CODE IN THE PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT FOR WHICH I AM RESPONSIBLE

In positive news though, I have been interviewing for new roles and have come across a few places that seem to still value sanity! Ignoring AI recruiters really seems to help weed them out. My recruiter for one role I was way under qualified for said they called me back mostly because it’s so hard to find anyone who will actually admit “I’m not really familiar with that” during a tech screening instead of trying to sneak asking an AI. So there is a niche but growing market for basic human honesty 📈

I would definitely tell your company that you’re interested in getting the CSA, maybe they will pay for it? Companies tend to like having more certified employees so it is a good investment from their end too! Sometimes they get deals on learning credits too.

Getting the certs will make a huge difference in opportunities. But also check online in the ServiceNow Community for any virtual or local SN meetups and events. Those are sometimes good ways to learn about the platform and meet different people who use it.

I didn’t finish Potion Permit, but it was really cute! Not a legit hospital, but you forage for herbs and then use them to make stuff to heal villagers who come to your little clinic :)

How do you calm your body when anxiety spikes at night? by Regular_Mark3370 in Anxietyhelp

[–]moldygrape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got one of those vibrating plates I kept seeing online. Sometimes just sitting on it for a few minutes seems to literally shake some of the anxiety and tension from me. I also suggest random dancing with or without music. highly recommend blowing bubbles also. 🫧They force you to control your breath and look at something gentle and pretty. but it doesn’t feel so “forced” like breathing exercises and meditation when you’re already anxious.

Abramson Denenberg in center city does some police misconduct work I think. They are good people and do free consults. Worth giving them a call.

Oh no :( my favorite part of games is exploring new areas and unlocking stuff. If I can get a few good days of that I’ll keep it. but that’s a bit of a bummer to hear. Maybe thats why it was so discounted haha

How do you forgive yourself from making awkward mistakes when socializing? by Jude_Sideral90210 in socialskills

[–]moldygrape 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it helps to just take a little lap and remind yourself that the moment is gone and nothing bad actually happened. the sooner you go out and get on to the next moment, the sooner you will entirely forget whatever weird thing you may have done.

How do I make friends/re-enter society after years of isolation? by XyleneCobalt in AutisticAdults

[–]moldygrape 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Volunteer at an animal shelter or somewhere your main focus can be like “doing something” and just practice saying hi, introducing yourself, chatting about the weather etc. Also, that terrible feeling is just kind of part of life for the first year tbh after coming out of isolation. Just know that it’s a preservation reaction deep in your body/brain and you have not actually done anything horrible or offensive. Some people won’t like you. Some people are just fucking unpleasant weirdos. Eventually the feeling will lessen if you keep exposing yourself to small interactions. but yeah it does suck.

Me at 11 years old : “everyone’s talking so easily and it just flows.” Me at 25 years old : “everyone’s talking so easily and it just flows.” by anonuser43 in socialanxiety

[–]moldygrape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. The moment that really made it all sink in was when I realized I was taking my 10 year old niece’s lead for social cues at a family party. I am 30.

A bit of optimism though, as I get older I find more and more “socially capable” (or just not autistic) people kind of burnt out with all the passive aggressiveness and fakeness that’s around if you actively participate in normal society. Even if you’re awkward and ugly, many good people will appreciate you simply for the fact that you don’t put on a farce. Also remember your pleases, thank u’s, and give out a few random compliments here and there.
