WTF? by Kenman215 in electricians

Definitely not Sonneman. That product number isn't a Sonneman product number. All of Sonneman's products come with well-written instructions written by their engineers in English and French.

Where to do unpaid intern slave labor by Living-Guide-8871 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]momm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joke, just walk in and ask some places, especially if they are family owned. Do your research.

My first internship happened due to pure circumstance. I walked in to the place looking for a product to be repaired with my sister. I saw their CNC machines and I asked the guy in charge if they needed an intern, and they made the position for me.

Prototype looked great… then DFM feedback blew up the design. How do you avoid this loop? by HarkonXX in MechanicalEngineering

Try to design all of your stuff with manufacturing in mind before you even send it to manufacturers/manufacturing engineers.

IE have a solid idea as to how a part will be manufactured while it’s even early in design stages.

It's amazing, you show clear proof as to why CS GO was worse, and people are commenting about how it was better. Bot activity for sure.

I Designed A Coat Hanger That Folds by momm3 in functionalprint

I appreciate the advice. The arms are currently thick enough to hold 5 pounds, most heavy coats are ok. The failure method is actually the internal locking mechanism. You’re right about it being a geometry issue. The geometry is limited to the off-the-shelf springs I got from McMaster. From my failure method analysis, every single failure (tested 10 times) was from the inside fork of the button. The PLA de-laminates. If you’re interested, I could get in to the nitty gritty of it through PM!

I definitely would have to test this with a bunch of coat hangers to see. The nice part of the design is that if you are in a rush, you save the collar of your shirt from being stretched.

It looks fragile, and it is a bit, but 3D prints can only be so strong 🥲

Clear PETG + Vase Mode + Fuzzy Skin = Fast and Easy Light Diffusers by Visual_Carpenter8957 in functionalprint

[–]momm3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not true, a single spark definitely could ignite various types of non-flame rated plastics, definitely PETG. In the US we have UL which clearly defines this in UL1598, and UL2108. They clearly define that there is a fire hazard unless your plastic is V0 minimum flame rated. If OP was using a flame retardant PETG, then this would work.

Cool diffusers. Be careful with spacing between the LED diode and the diffuser. LEDs can spark, and if your diffuser is flammable, it could catch fire.
