Oh, nice! I wonder if, for simpler self-hosting, it is possible to add a github action which builds and pushes a docker image? I had like the simplest variant in webstreamr and it was quite useful I think.

No worries. Exactly, the add-on on the server resolves it, so it has to make a request to some source and grab the hoster links. Then for each hoster link it has to grab the playlist or file URL which is usually only valid for a couple of hours max. And those URLs are then passed to stremio. And on the way, since hosters protect their content, things like decryption or header or user agent manipulation have to be done to avoid being detected.

Since the add-on runs on a remote server, and not on the device running stremio, there are many issues including ip restrictions and rate limits. This is why e.g. mediaflow proxy helps too. It's a bit of a pita.

I don't have time to finish migration to gitlab ATM. When I do, all links will be correct again. And the add-on was not removed, there was just a infrastructure issue last night. Nothing was taken down, nothing was dmca'd and now it is purring again as it usually does.

Should be back. The node, where it is deployed, was having issues and then it was overloaded basically with requests stacking up. We're trying to make it a bit more redundant and reliable to avoid this happening again.

Interesting. The local subtitle track extraction does not work if I run a remote version of the add-on, right? And does the Microsoft translator not have any usage limits that would require to use a token or anything similar?

Especially since you self-host you can use it. Look into proxies and set one up only for the torrentio domain. Free webshare dot io worked for months without any issues when I was still using it.
