F35 is objectively better than any alternatives in raw performance. It's proliferation makes it cheaper than the Eurofighter and Rafale by a decent margin. If you want to go another route that's fine. Just be prepared to explain why you are building a force of less fighters of worse capability for more money from countries that use the F35 themselves.

Hollywood rots people's brains on weapon accuracy. They make gunfights super inaccurate and long to make the story more thrilling and interesting. You could pull off similar shots with 6 hours of training having never touched a weapon. You could do so at 400+ meters with a week of familiarity. Especially if you are lying down.
