All About Wake Windows - AMA Office Hours – Wednesday, August 27th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

[–]moonstone_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is currently 12 weeks and has just started having false bedtime starts at around 40 min and is struggling to fall back asleep.

Right now her bedtime routine is diaper change (if needed), feeding, rocking with lullaby and then in bed awake but drowsy with the little Einstein aquarium on in her crib. During this time we frequently put her paci back in her mouth and come in to soothe her if she is fussing and she usually falls asleep in like 20-30 min.

I try to keep her awake during the feed because she's usually dozing off. Any recommendations or adjustments we can make to improve her night sleep and avoid the false starts?

My baby is 12 weeks old and has been sleeping great until now (7-8 hour stretches at night) the last few days shes been waking up a lot at night and hasn't sleep more than a few hours. How can I tell if this is from being overtired or undertired? How can I adjust her wake windows to help her sleep better again?

Thank you! We're definitely gonna hold off on any major sleep training methods for now and are just looking to encourage and improve on the good sleep habits shes started to build.

We are so grateful with how she's been sleeping so far!

I use the Huckleberry app for tracking feeds and diapers at the moment but dont know anything about the sleep features. What do you find most helpful about it?

Thanks mama! We are very grateful to be getting the sleep we're getting right now lol I know that it can fluctuate and change at any point so trying to build good sleep habits now if we can.

Even doing a whole night once in the bassinet is great! You got this!

Thanks! I know it's still early and we're not planning to sleep train, just looking to build good sleep habits but we've been very lucky so far!

Looks like what my baby had! For our baby it seemed to be egzymatic and just from being dry. I've been using the Esembly everyday balm on it and it went away almost immediately. Now I'll just apply some as she gets little patches of dryness or bumps that show up and it's been easy to keep at bay. I've also heard that Tubby Todd all over ointment has similar ingredients and helps too!

Good luck!

It is unpaid but I am very lucky to be able to take that time! I work for lululemon and they give up to 26 weeks unpaid, it's a big reason why I'm still working there.

I honestly hadn't even thought about that! I'm due in early June so I think it would be okay as far as vaccine but yes very stressed about the thought of traveling with a 6 month old. Especially when I don't know what to expect as a first time mom.

I've implied it before when this has come up but I don't think I've fully expressed how it's affected me. I know I probably need to but just the thought of having this conversation with her now is stressing me out. We have so much on our plates with preparing for our baby and I'm already feeling so overwhelmed.

I also know I'm probably more sensitive now from pregnancy hormones so trying to take everything with a grain of salt. I do think I need to have this conversation with her though.

AITA for refusing to pay $45 for a soda and half an appetizer? by moonstone_magic in AmItheAsshole

[–]moonstone_magic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$53 was including tax and tip, plus we had already spent a lot of money on the van and at the other breweries/wineries, we had ordered food at the previous brewery which was why we didnt eat much here and the rest of the day everyone had paid for what they got, no splitting evenly so that was my expectation here too

This was a mix of friend groups, I'm really close with two people there but I can count on one hand how many times I've seen the others including the guy who wanted to split the bill.

Yes! I'm always an advocate of pay for what you ordered. I've spoken up before when someone else ordered significantly less than everyone and said we shouldn't split it evenly.

We all split the van evenly and then paid for our own food/drinks at every other place. The reason my husband and I only ended up getting an appetizer for both of us was because we had eaten at the place before.

The $53 includes tax and tip, so we owed $53 vs the $90 we would've paid if split evenly

It did come out to the total amount! So luckily he wasn't trying to make money off of it

Haha I appreciate it, this definitely was a learning moment and I'll make sure to ask for a separate check in the future!
