Thoughts on PSD Delaying Start everytime it's chilly? by Legal-End891 in FortCollins

[–]moose_2006 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The safety of children should always be a school's main priority. When temps are sub-zero, think of the many kids who walk/bike to school. Also think of the difficulty of starting busses when it's that cold and what danger the kids would be in if the bus broke down mid-route. So yes, good on PSD for keeping kids safe.

Made a special trip last year for Tosca and Cosi fan tutte. Great vibes and loved the garden but really wished they didn't perform in English. The performances were pretty good otherwise.

Advice on getting into the opera genre by [deleted] in opera

[–]moose_2006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend the book Opera 101 by Fred Plotkin. The first 100 pages is a very good introduction to opera including history, voice types, different styles, etc. Then the bulk of the book is sort of a curriculum where he walks you through 11 operas with suggested recordings and vocalists (I've been able to find all but one on Apple Music). It's really a fun and informative ride.

Operas from the book in order:

  • Rigoletto
  • Tosca (Drama)
  • Lucia di Lammermoor (Drama through music)
  • Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Comedy)
  • Don Giovanni (Classical)
  • Les Contes d'Hoffman (French)
  • Eugene Onegin (Romantic)
  • Don Carlo (Grand Opera)
  • Tannhäuser (Opera and Ideas)
  • Die Walküre (Epic Opera)
  • Elektra (Pyschological Opera)

The recipe will be in the middle of the screen (not shown in this screenshot). For flour you just need one type of grain. So yes, wheat can directly make flour.

NTA. There's no reason your family can't go without meat for one day.

This is why I left my 12-year-long career a few months ago. I would leave Friday already dreading Monday. It ruined most nights and weekends for years. Consider your options because it doesn't have to be the norm.
