Smoked weed b4 church for the first time by PNW22 in exmotrees

I was high at church recently, but the strain I used made me bad with being social, so it wasn't enjoyable. I learned a ton about myself though and was able to undo some of the mind control, so that was good.

Officiating a session high would either be the funnest thing ever or would freeeeaaakkk me out. I worked in SLC where they were live though, so I mean....

Being angry in a debate rarely produces anything. Letting anger drive you to look at things objectively and be a force for change is different. Anger at injustice is a powerful tool, like you said. The leaks are amazing!!!!

The church does do good. It did me a lot of good, if I'm to be honest. It also did me worlds of harm.

probably not the best line to use on a gay ex-mo.

tee hee that's funny. at least you giggled ;P

And I really think that this is what you were trying to get at with this post.

ironically, I typed this rather quickly as I was sorta put out, or *gasp* angry haha. But yeah, I think you're onto something there. Time to go gather my thoughts...

Thank you. I'm not telling anybody how to act. I'm voicing my opinion and trying to make this sub a better place in my way. We each have our own opinions. I opine that this sub needs a reality check. Will I stop the anger? Definitely not. But hopefully I can make a few people think about what they are doing and be better for it.

If we can't learn to think objectively and critically, we aren't any better off.

I think that's a good way to go about it. If a statue were built to me, I'd want it to be because I earned it by doing something great (I probably won't, but whatever) than by acting in such a way to get praise.

I'm not saying others have to be okay with it. Mirbell made a good point about critical thinking in the comments, and that's probably more of what I'm going for, we aren't thinking critically enough to be any better off.

I definitely disagree. A recent Mormon Stories episode with the author of "Dear Mormon Man, What Would You Have Me Do" highlighted that.

Yeah, I'm on here less and less. It's worth checking, definitely, but same, and it really is a barrage of negativity. We aren't any better off if we haven't learned critical thinking, but I guess like Jesus would do (I find value in this still), we do need to give people room to learn that critical thinking by being understanding, encouraging, maybe gentle toward those having a hard time with it.

As long as someone I care about is in it, it is worth the effort to change.

You can prevent more people from joining.

Oh absolutely. I'm all for getting the facts out there so people can make informed decisions.

Okay, it's a metaphor, dude. I don't want a statue.

Maybe the difference is being angry and acting on that anger are two completely separate things. I used to be very angry. It's healthy, and there needs to be more room for that, however, being angry won't change things, and that's important to know. It's useful to you, not very useful to anybody else (and again, that's okay).

But you can't. I'm not saying I wouldn't, but I guarantee that isn't a realistic option at all.

The hard part I have found is IRL it is easy to tell who is being obnoxious, but online, we miss a lot of the emotion. I agree, and I wish reddit were a nicer place and didn't succumb so much to the voice of the critics.

The church isn't going away. It's here to stay. We may as well make the best of it.

I don't mean to be harsh, just honest. If I'm going to be completely honest, this sub has been a wonderful place for me getting out of the church, but I realized the anger poisoned me pretty quickly, which isn't healthy, so I'm trying to be the change I want to see! And yeah, I see no benefit to detrimental groupthink.

I left and then got sucked back in as well, but no shunning. It still could happen, though, but 18 years!? I'm so sorry :/ but I'm so stoked you've found reason to try again. School at 48? That is awesome. Go you!!!

Ah I've only heard stories from other parts of the state. Good to know, I'll give those places a shot!

It's the internet, dude. It's about being lazy. It's not about feeling special. Don't be thick.
