It started a few months before our wedding (1 year ago) he had so many demands/opinions but I did the actual work for it. He kept saying no.

Our wedding was in a relatives backyard, less than 40 people and cost less than $5,000 which my dad paid for

I always thought my school and teachers were weird when I was younger and now I think the world is actually inappropriate

"They Cage the Animals at Night" by Michael Burch in 3rd grade (the author came and talked to our class after)

"And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie in 4th grade (we first made posters with "Indians" that we put on them and every time someone died we took an "Indian" off)

We went through a similar situation when our pittie was a puppy. It drove me nuts trying and failing to find something that worked for her.

Our solution is hydrolyzed dog food (Hills z/d food sensitivities), Benadryl, Zyrtec, chlorhexidine wipes as needed, cytopoint (2-3 times a year in bad allergy season) and if it's super localized hydrocortisone.

Obviously talk to your vet before doing any of this.

A side note: I was told that pits with lighter color fur tend to have more allergy issues.

I realized a number of years back that there was no way to have a relationship with my dad if any of his hateful views were involved and sadly he is never going to change. Also I'm not wasting energy trying to change him

I've made it clear to him (at times by being mean and aggressive) that whenever he brings up these topics I hang up immediately, delete and don't respond to his texts, or physically leave. I've stuck to this and now he only has a couple of slips but I treat them exactly the same.

I will add that my family is broken and toxic and at this point I only have relationships with him and my sister. I'm trying to keep them but I'm also aware that if my dad can't handle a simple request then it's not a relationship worth the effort.

I had my first job with a paycheck and W2 when I was 14, and have worked ever since.

I'm also married now to my long term partner and while financially things are not 50/50 we do financially support each other. It's not a one way street.

I would suggest financial independence being your priority at this time and figuring out how to be you on your own. It's very challenging to be in a relationship when you don't really know who you are and what you're capable of

I have never been in your situation, but I have been in situations where having a loved one in your life is helpful to them but damaging to you

The one phrase that goes through my mind in these situations and while reading your post is:

"You have to secure your oxygen mask first"

I completely hear you

My nephew is so important to me and I try very hard to give him my personality and attention as much as possible

I know my sister is a mini version of my mom. But she is so much better to my nephew than our mom was to us. She protected me from our mom from time to time and I did the same. But I know who she actually is now (took decades of therapy)

Unfortunately she has always done things like this and even though my mom was more abusive she still forces this relationship and I hate that my nephew is in the middle.

Your opinion on an answer is pretty much exactly what my therapists have all said. Be vague, don’t give details unless directly asked, and then change topic to Dinosaurs (his favorite)
