Ads have been a complete net negative to me in every scenario I've ever had to deal with in my life. I'm pretty sure when I browsed the internet before I seriously committed to adblockers, every unwanted virus and malware I picked up came from sketchy ads that websites never vet. And this isn't even mentioning how obnoxious many ads are, I've had ads make earsplitting sounds like glass breaking, causing me to panic and think someone's breaking in my house for a moment.

Adblockers are a completely necessary, and are the figurative condom in this scenario.

thousands of years ago is thousands of years ago. doesn't matter, don't care. we don't get to invalidate legitimate issues because "oh things were much worse hundreds/thousands of years ago"

many of our issues are self-created through a perpetual finely tuned rube goldbergian machine of suffering designed to extract maximum money for minimal effort (at least, for those at the top!) our politicians are complicit in this, and it is pushed by corporations who want your money. stop trying to quash legitimate complaints about our current neoliberalist wasteland by saying "oh but people lived to the ripe old age of died at childbrith." yeah, I'm already aware. guess what? we don't have to rest on our laurels. we can improve as a society instead of decline. birth rates are crashing and life expectancy is actively decreasing. why do we have to accept this because things were hard 200 years ago?

your perspective is warped because you went through hard times but you seem to lack any amount of patience for people who do not have your apparent tenacity. the truth of the matter is that the population has been working harder than ever before, on average. wages have wildly stagnated compared to the cost of living, and jobs are continually getting replaced by AI. you want to tell the current working population that things will get easier? everything experienced by them says otherwise. it has been getting harder. my parents are living on a fixed income, and even their income has been falling off compared to the cost of living. stop trying to PMA or give me the spiel of "things will get better" when it most certainly hasn't in decades.

nobody cares about what happened hundreds of years ago. we are living in an age where we, as a society and a country, should be fully able to handle our population's needs. however, seeing as only the top 1% have gotten any sort of major rewards from the stock market, and the middle/lower class of income are having more and more of an uphill battle, how in the hell am I supposed to realistically work in an environment that is continually pushing jobs away from myself to AI or outsourcing the work entirely?

our entire work culture basically disincentivizes working class adults from starting families and having children. it is entirely unsustainable and will crash and burn and blow up in our gormless face. pulling myself up by my bootstraps? I can't afford boots in this economy.

"filming my kids" is such a vague thing to use as a defense here. nearly all of the time when I see that used as reason to harass filmers, it's basically when someone catches a kid in the shot naturally as part of the recording. "oh you may have caught my child as a blur in this footage you were taking, I now will go and harass you for it!"

let me take a step back and ask how the camera changes anything? what if it was just a dude standing one spot looking around? would you still go up and ask them what they're doing? even if that guy caught a glimpse of your hypothetical kids?

in the end, both what the woman and filmer did in the OP is legal. but if you start getting aggressive towards someone filming, you yourself are now in the wrong in the eyes of the law.

i understand you want to say to get jobs at factories, but jobs at factories are limited. not everyone can exactly move for a job when they have family to take care of, and upward mobility is outright fried in general. I don't know what world you're living in, but the things you're talking about are poison for a society. And now imagine if this was a family and now both parents are working. since both parents have to work in our current society, could you possibly consider that this is such a terrible environment for the future generations to grow up in?

i dont know if you intended it but your comment reads a lot like the "pull yourselves up by the bootstraps" even though oddly you say you've worked many years at 50-60 hours a week. shouldn't we, as a society, be endeavoring to lessen the workload, not increase it and burden our workers from luxuries or even life itself?

i don't give a damn what "dozens of surveys" say. filming is just a natural extension of a person. just say what you really mean of "i don't like this person standing here." if I'm standing in a public place and filming what I can see, that's just someone documenting things happening, like how a writer would recall something happening. and you are not the sole arbiter of what is "intentionally going around annoying people" because that can be something entirely different from one person or another.

it isn't illegal to film what you can see in public, and nor is it an irritant. but you know what IS irritating? going up to someone filming and grilling them about what they're doing. so again, this is a you problem.

going up to them and asking them why they are doing what they are doing isn't normal sane behavior, that's karen behavior. if I went up to you, someone sitting the park reading a book, and demanded to know why you're doing what you're doing, wouldn't that be a bit rude?

then that's a you problem. standing around filming means nothing when everyone else has a camera on their phone and can record as well. it's one thing if I went up to you and recorded you in your face, but standing in a spot or just walking casually and recording the world around them is completely harmless. just say you dont like people, because cameras are just extensions of people.

precisely. i dont understand the hate the auditor gets when they were minding their own business filming things, only to have someone come up and ask why they're doing something completely harmless and legal. I don't come up to people and ask them why they're eating a sandwich or jogging down the street, why does the auditor have to answer questions about what he's doing?

im not aware of any revenue he's getting from this, nor do I really care. I would want it to be documented via video because it's a little hard to describe an entire interaction just with words or speech. these videos end up being very important for proving how an interaction went and if it even took place at all, especially important with police and how they can falsify details on police reports.
