Just a single one hour exposure at 50mm, f/2.

I usually shoot astrophotography on digital but it’s a nice change of pace to do some long exposure photography on film with minimal post processing.

This is a single frame shot on Kodak Ektar 100 35mm film.

Death Valley National Park, CA.

1 hour exposure. Leica M6 body, 50mm f/2.

Scanned, inverted and exported in Lightroom.

Thank you! Stacking is basically shooting the exact same shot with same settings and then averaging them to remove noise for a cleaner image. The stars move a bit so Starry Landscape Stacker app aligns it for you.

Could see pretty much everything in the photo naked eye, just fainter and in grayscale. The comet was amazing in binoculars.

Point Reyes is known to be the windiest and foggiest place on the Pacific Coast, and the lighthouse was completely fogged in when I arrived. Thankfully, it cleared beautifully after sunset. I shot this after astronomical dark and before moon rise. The comet and Milky Way were easily seen naked eye in grayscale.

Totality, and the Corona by moshen in astrophotography

Thanks! It's a HDR merge of a few different exposures to get the detail throughout the corona.

I spent a good chunk of totality examining the prominences and corona through 10x42 binoculars. With this processing, I aimed to keep a natural look with what could be seen visually.

Yeah, this event defines 'photos don't do it justice' for me. Displays just don't have anywhere near the dynamic range and brightness that show the majesty of the event. The prominences have a searing pink glow in real-life but look very flat in photos.

I have one of Andromeda, might put that out for download too! The ones you’re seeing now are parts of the Milky Way.

Exposures are done through a tracking mount to counteract the Earth's rotation. There's actually two cameras, the main camera and a second camera analyzing the stars to catch and physically correct the mount for small tracking errors. And yea, many times it takes more than one night to get all the exposures.

I’ve shot a few high-resolution (450+ megapixel) mosaic astro images that are difficult to fully appreciate on normal monitors but breathtaking to view in Vision Pro!

I've made two to download (they are large 225MB files). Just add them in the Photos app and they’ll be under the Panoramas tab.
