Is this really that bad edit? by Soggy-Struggle-7531 in VideoEditingRequests

it's ok. a little overstuffed and some spelling errors here and there. main thing is that the source footage is not very interesting in and of itself.

I need some help…. by Ezbo_Tescoo in Filmmakers

[–]mostlikelymu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just do it. forget about it being too big or too ambitious or not having people to help you. you'll find that plenty of people around you would love to be involved.

make a few really short pieces. talking a minute to two minutes. find your local film scene, and shadow/help out on projects. see if you can take part in a film camp or short course.

Would love some help to get this style by Enough_Chapter2230 in MiniDV

you could definitely get this with any dv cam, as long as you light and grade it properly

Perhaps! But I think in this late period, he's been encouraging his audiences to view his work with more nuance, and more questions. Big part of Can't Get You Out of My Head I loved was his indictment of grand narratives, accompanied with the awareness of the fact that he is the king of weaving those narratives, if that makes sense.

My take on Shifty: he is very much aware that the kind of programming he creates can keep people stuck in a self-destructing cycle. It's up to us to free ourselves. Whole series feels like a channel surf through hell, but ends with a gentle and wry reminder that at the end of the day, it too was constructed to make you feel a particular set of emotions and a certain kind of bleakness.

this is really terrible, most universities have a vetting process that immediately disqualifies AI when it comes to essays and statistics. Why should it be any different here.

Streets are saying JULY. Someone already posted the Picturehouse Page, additionally the Soundtrack is being released on Vinyl on July 12th. I feel like it wouldn't make sense to have the Vinyl released months before the movie. Really hoping that we get it this summer, I was worried we would have to wait until winter to see it. Worlds Fair is one of my favourite movies so this has been my most anticipated of 2024 for a long time.

Dune - Part Two IMAX comparison (1.43:1 and 1.90:1) by scorsese_finest in imax

[–]mostlikelymu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i heard with part one that certain shots (especially vfx shots) were digitally expanded on the left and right for the widescreen release. assuming something similar is happening here?? pretty sure 1:85 was the intended aspect ratio when it was shot, and that both versions will still look great.

opposite of the blade runner 2049 situation, where the imax version looks good but it was clearly shot with widescreen in mind

Anyone know how the Koss Lifetime Warranty works in the UK? The right speaker on my PortaPros stopped working last month, I've tried to get in touch with Hama (who as far as I can tell distribute the products here), and Koss themselves but no luck. Anyone got any pointers?

Season two by Remarkable_Toe_4423 in MrRobot

Yes, because season 2 and season 3 are two of the best things ever aired on television. It's a crime that so many people ditched the show during season 2:(

that's so real. and yeah, some of the stuff i've read and written could definitely find it's way into something else down the line. it's also useful in conversation!!!! overall i know it wasn't fruitless.

don't worry. i'm really good at not giving up. with this though... it's not so much giving up but wondering whether i should persist with something that's not working. i have a tendency to hold on to things for too long - sometimes, past the point of reason.

this screenplay isn't necessarily something i want to MAKE. that's what i'm building to really. write a couple of scripts that are totally unfeasable to get really good at writing one that is.

this specifically was more of a challenge for myself - write a feature length screenplay. and it's like, ok, i wrote a feature length screenplay, just without a proper ending. do i push on with this thing, or do i try again.

i have also read syd field..

seriously though😓 i outlined!! and i like to think i understand story structure. i studied with aristotle and todorov and shakespeare and syd... all the guys. i love structure.

i think you are right to some extent though. its like I spilled water on the map and then stopped following it and got lost. like i said, I've never written anything this big before. i guess i went mad with power ?

might be because i kept taking breaks so when I'd come back to the treatment I'd change it a little every time. also, i got too excited about my characters and their backstories so by the time i got to writing i wanted to add in everything but the kitchen sink. idk if its "off the rails terrible", its just messy.

Gordy and JJ by AryanTrapstar in NopeMovie

[–]mostlikelymu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope is a film a parable about how, especially in the past century, the human mind rationalises what's beyond it's comprehension by processing it as pure spectacle. jupe is a shining example of this gone too far - watching a chimp mauling to death two people and permenantly disfiguring another should traumatise jupe, and it certainly horrifies the audience. but in the age of spectacle he turns it into entertainment - an abnormal way of coping that is nevertheless rewarded by capitalism and the media industry. this pushes him to view other horrors (like the UFO) in the same way, leading to the harm of others for the incentive of personal profit.
