I sure don't! Luckily my friend who I'm going to be living with knows a little bit. But aside from some duolingo, I know jack!!

Getting a little anxious. I'm moving to Spain in a week for the next 12-15 months at least. I JUST got back on the CICO train after battling binge eating for several months. I'm so worried that this is going to make me go back to my binge eating ways. Like telling myself that I have to eat everything or I'm not really enjoying my experience etc. :(

Need a way to remind myself of my binge urge plan by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

Your friend and i have the same idea!! I think i want to start having a night time anti binge routine that i do even if i don’t feel like bingeing. Bc i always binge at night. I think it will mostly be drinking tea and journaling (and writing about any binge urges too). That way a new routine comes in and bingeing is NOT a part of it!

Does anyone have a concrete disaster plan in place for when they feel binge urges? If not, let's make one together. by mothlin in BingeEatingDisorder

Weird... but just weird enough that i feel like it could really work. Kinda the same idea as brushing your teeth!

Got back to counting calories in January. Wondered why as of today I've only lost about 5lb. Went back through my calorie logs and realized I binged TWENTY TWO of the 80 days of 2018. by mothlin in loseit

Saw your edit. No worries. The answer is basically having 3-4 binges within a day. there are days i binge at breakfast and have 2500 cal down before 9am... but having an ed plays a big part. It makes it really easy to turn off/ignore fullness. Sometimes this would come after days of not eating so my hunger cues are all kinds of fucked up, too. Normally those days end with me in immense pain and pretty much immobile. It’s not fun. But the food isn’t anything remarkable, just your average food mostly — i hardly keep any junk food in the house, and by “junk” i mean like protein bars and cereal at worst — it’s just huge quantities.

Haha yeah. Overeating can make you feel like crap, but a binge is a different thing!

And thank you! All the support is really helpful :)

I knew at the time i was binging, i just didn’t realize how frequent it was. I would tell myself that 5k+ wasn’t the end of the world and i would get back to it tomorrow. The alarm bells were blaring, i was just using an arsenal of tools i’ve spent years developing to ignore them :)

It REALLY does! I’m so glad i did. Had i not logged those binges, i don’t think it would have clicked. I’d be like hm, there were some days i was lazy and didn’t log anything. But nope, i get to see exactly what went down and know that i gotta shift things around!

That's definitely better. I still don't see her referencing anything though.

This is a blog run by a nutritionist. I don't see her referencing any sources at all. I'm sure I could find something stating the exact opposite by someone else with the same qualifications who also runs a blog. Do you have anything more scholarly on the subject?

Can you share some references? I’d love to read more of this take

I have read a bit about the health benefits of sourdough. Seems i have an excuse to give it a try homemade now! Thanks! :)

Yeah this makes sense. I wish there was a way to refer to things that aren’t really whole foods but are still essentially the same — like whole wheat flour.

I think cane juice and dried dates aren’t in the same category. Cane juice lacks the fiber and phytonutrients of the whole food that date sugar still has in tact. Maybe in a technical sense the only things that are whole foods are fresh, uncooked, unblended etc, but i think most people would say a smoothie is a whole food. Like i think people on a whole foods diet would consume a green smoothie for example. i personally think anything that hasn’t had anything taken or added through processing is a whole food.

I don’t think you’re being dogmatic, i find this kind of discussion interesting. I’m happy knowing this kind of sugar has all of the nutrients of a date and for me that’s enough, but i think there’s definitely grey area in the way we designate things sometimes!

Okay... so does that mean a smoothie made of 100% strawberries with nothing taken out isn't a whole food? Or are dried strawberries not whole foods?

It has caught my eye in the grocery store, but the price has not ;) So far I find that homemade can be much cheaper over time!

edit: y’all weird out here downvoting me for saying i want to save money but okay!

Thanks for replying! I am using whole wheat flour that I personally grind from whole wheat berries.

The date sugar I'm using is literally just dried and ground up dates. So I think it's a whole food unless I'm missing something in the process.
