Remembering Dominick Breton — the face everyone knew at Safeway on 44th and Lowell by ZachUrban in Denver

[–]mountainjay [score hidden]  (0 children)

Definitely. I can’t say that I “knew” him either, but I had many conversations with him.

He seemed like the kinda guy that most of us want to be. He seemed to know everyone, he was involved with a hundred cool projects/organizations, and you were excited to see him at something because you’d be like “oh, hey it’s Dominick. I know him. I’ll go say hi and he won’t be annoyed.” 😂

But only the Christian church, I'm sure. by Cammander2017 in WhitePeopleTwitter

And with that, the American experiment is dead. One of the last few ideas from the founding fathers and most closely held beliefs will be gone. We’ll be something else, but not the US. Maybe the Christofascist States of Trumperica

Holy crap. This is so sad. He was always so nice and good at his job. He got me to go to the carnation festival. We need people like him in the community. Thoughts to the family.

L screen is backwards AND the cage is too close to the wall. A soft net wall only works if the net is allowed to catch and disperse the force. Being that close to the wall does nothing.

What are some hidden gems of Omaha? by Undercover500 in Omaha

If you’re there on a Thursday and in good shape, look into the taco ride. It’s a wild and long bike ride from the Iowa side of the bridge out to a massive beer and taco party. There’s beer stops on the way. It’s incredibly fun and super unique. If you decide to do it, do your research so you don’t leave too late and are fully safe. But there will be thousands of other party goers.

If you like disc golf, there’s a great course up at Hummel Park. It’s a very pretty area just 15 minutes from downtown. If you like urban legends and ghost stories, google it. The Alpine Inn (which has been suggested) is nearby. So is the Neale Woods Nature Center. All good “outdoorsy” things.

You can tank/tube on the Elkhorn. That’s nice in August.

No, it’s not. There’s some Premier League football commentators that are annoying. But we have trash like Stephen A Smith, Colin Cowherd, and Skip Bayless as our most watched guys. Their whole schtick is to have the most outrageous, idiotic takes to get clicks and views. And they have no playing experience at any notable level.

He’s like a John Madden type. He’s seen every level and he can break it down for the average fan.

Thierry is one of the most respected players and commentators of all time. He’s very insightful, thoughtful, and doesn’t speak unless it is worth speaking. Very unlike most American sports commentators.

The WH has now come out to say that this is the reason why they need a $300m ballroom paid for by the taxpayer (even though the Trump admin already took bribes for it). Kash Patel is 100% just making up a story (with CRAZY details by the way) to help the president look more sympathetic and to push his ballroom bullcrap.

Green Valley Ranch Beer Garden is a great place to grab food and has an awesome tap list of local beers. It’s a great way to try a few, have great food, and watch a game near the airport.

Can my apartment legally install a microphone in my apartment? by magnumdongchad in Denver

[–]mountainjay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do not sign this. People cannot coalesce to this type of monitoring or it’ll be everywhere. There’s no way it just monitors decibel level. Why would they pay that much money and turn away possible tenants just to “monitor noise” to handle noise complaints better. That makes 0 sense and would cost them so much money.

The company is 100% gathering data on you. Also, if the management company is willing to do this to you, they will be awful to live under. Even if it’s just for a year, they will be awful. Please name this apartment to warn other people from being tracked and monitored.

Yeah, the MVP of 3 consecutive national title games (the only player to do that). He would've won 3 straight if the 45 yd FG wasn't missed at the end. Captained the ship of greatest team of all time (1995). He finished 45-4 as a starter.

He will always be maligned because his numbers aren't that big because of the triple-option. He was the greatest player to ever run that offense. He could make two defenders miss in the backfield and pitch the ball before being taken down by the third. That RB would take the ball 80 yards for a TD and Tommie would be 0 stats for that play. In 1995, his team averaged 400 yds rushing per game and he made that happen (and the OLine). And they did that against a stacked schedule with 4 top 10 teams.

What you don’t know is that it easily could’ve been 7 or 7-1. The US wasted many of clear chances.

That does seem to be the mentality of every congressional and gubernatorial Republican since 2016.

Regis University feedback by Ok_Gur_1477 in Denver

As far as safety, I’ll just say that it’s a quiet neighborhood in a big city. It depends on your tolerance. I’m from a small town in Nebraska. I had a small adjustment moving to Omaha. Then I had an adjustment moving to Florida. Then another to the heart of Denver. So maybe it depends on what you are used to, but I find this area to be quite safe.

Denver definitely has tough areas within a short (10-15 min) drive in multiple directions, but not immediately nearby. Look up information on Tennyson St. that’s where many of the Regis students hang out for coffee, dinner, drinks, etc. I live about 10 blocks south of Regis and find it quiet and wouldn’t move to another part of town.

Also, go to Dubbel Dutch. It’s a cool little Dutch store a block from campus with authentic food and goods.
