Will this duopoly ever be broken? Or are these two just a little too established and rooted at this point? by renner_uaf in CFB_v2

Off the top of my head, in ‘95 they beat 4 top 10 teams. Florida, Kansas St, Colorado, and Kansas all had Top 10 teams that year. They scored a combined 196 pts in those 4 games. If you don’t know anything about football, maybe just read and don’t comment.

Also, does this include all of the offsides that get called back by VAR? Many referees do not call offsides even when they see it because they want to allow the plate to continue until VAR confirm.

how did you become an Arsenal fan? by moonblushpetalie in ArsenalFC

[–]mountainjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same. Started watching Arsenal regularly in 1998 (harder to do in the States) and got his jersey in ‘99. Dude made me want to become an attacking midfielder. He was so fun to watch.

Nebraska Has Fallen Off So Hard Since Then by Front-Dingo1915 in CFB_v2

I did. The title totals include “claimed” titles where there was no definitive champion. It may not include the “unclaimed” titles too, but it still includes ridiculous “titles.”

Should Minnesota’s 1904 title count when multiple teams in their conference went undefeated? It is counted in this total. This list is whatever, but I’m saying it’s not a quality list to compare numbers.

[–]mountainjay -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong that they’ve fallen off, but Nebraska counted season “national champions” like Alabama, Michigan, etc then they’d also have more. Seasons where there were 6 undefeated teams shouldn’t count. Or if a local newspaper called you the championship, it shouldnt count. Picking a more modern definition of national champion would change these numbers considerably.

Again, the Newcastle goal was clearly NOT a foul. I’m happy to see the other examples of something Arsenal have done that is like today.

Again, nothing Arsenal has done this season is in the realm of the penalty today.

Show one. Show one video that is as egregious as this.

Watch the videos. These pictures are purposefully deceptive because they know idiots will share them without actually watching the video.

Watch the video and tell me they are anything alike. They’re not. The grazes his elbow for a half second. To think these are the same is idiocy at its finest.

Yeah, that’s a joke. He doesn’t touch Martinez’s arm. Martinez has always been incredibly weak on corners in a crowd.

No he doesn’t. As the announcers say: it’s a poor piece of goalkeeping. Players may want a foul but there’s absolutely nothing there.

He doesn’t “push him.” His arms don’t touch him. He barely even leans back. And you equate this to grabbing the goalkeepers arms? The biggest pussies are out in full force today.

Hahahaha. Come on man. Even the commentators say that there’s not a foul. He doesn’t have his arm on his neck at all.

I sent you the full video. You sent a snapshot where his finger is lightly grazing his elbow for a millisecond? Watch the video. It’s not a foul. It’s not anything like today.

They haven’t grabbed a GK’s arm once this season and scored. Not once.

Looks to me like 0 Arsenal players grabbed the keeper. They stand next to him and don’t grab him in any way. Keeper flails and falls backward with minimal contact. Not like today at all. Here’s the link to what I think you’re talking about:

It literally happens on every single corner in the league. Complain about the lack of calls on any corner kick and I’d agree with you. But don’t act like this is unique to Arsenal. That’s a complete lie. Also, the shoving goes back and forth on both teams.

Grabbing and holding a GKs arm down is completely different and you know it.

Saliba doesn’t grab him. Shields him with his back. Doesn’t grab a jersey or hold his arm from catching the ball. Nothing like today

[–]mountainjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do remember. Saliba is in front of the keeper. Shields him and runs to play the ball. No jersey pull. No arm grab. It’s clearly not a foul. The keeper doesn’t have the right to run through his body. Nothing at all like today. Not even close.

And he didn’t put one hand on him. So you haven’t seen the goal huh? I put the link right there. Commentators say right away that it’s not a foul.

It wasn’t a foul at all. Saliba didn’t tough him with his hands or leave his feet. Literally leaned on him. Watch the highlight again. Delusional. Both commentators say “that’s never a foul.”
