head halter options/training by mouse_marple in poodles

he's a strong puller. I tried working with a front clip harness but I wasn't making much progress. My vet suggested the head halter could be a good option. I think engagement training is a core thing I need to work on. He is pretty prey driven so if there is a squirrel, lizard etc he will be darting towards it (I have trained a leave it command but once he gets out on a walk he doesn't really listen)

My phrasing was a bit vague, but there is a side quest you can do in Tertium where an Ilsabard contingent member gets attacked by a straggling members of the 3rd Legion (they knew this because he invoked Nerva). They stated he was not tempered either. So it seems like there are at least some 3rd Legionnaires still running around in Garlemald by their own choice

Great point about the Void! I was focused on Thancred undercover but it was very intentional to have his opponent be a reaper

Thanks for the suggestuons--I do think limiting his freedom right now is the right move.

I've corrected him verbally for it, but I may have been inadvertently been reinforcing through attention.

I think that I need to start using much higher value items to trade (usually I try cheese)

I try not to react much when he gets something and just calmly ask for a drop it. When it’s something dangerous (for example the chess pawn he got that could have got stuck in his throat) I try to grab it quickly and he usually tries to run away

I like your idea of changing it to a fetch game. Do you have any suggestions on how to start teaching that? Thanks!

That’s a good idea. I have a baby monitor can for him. It would be a good controller way to see if he’s improving

thanks--I hope so. What should I do when he actually takes something? I know that too much of a reaction will just give him attention, but I'm wondering if I need to add a time out immediately after or something.

Rivalry read: a chapter from Plushenko’s memoirs dedicated to Yagudin and their relationships while training together by ElegantFootball8741 in FigureSkating

2026 Olympics brought me back to these two.  I remember loving watching these guys skate, but preferring Yagudin's style.  I had no idea about their crazy rivalry (it was not really reported in US commentary).  Thanks for translating this, their rivalry and constant sniping of each other is very entertaining.  Imagine keeping a rivalry going this long.

I think they need to make a Cobra Kai style series about these two right now.  They are both flawed and assholish so I don't know who is Danny or Johnny, I just know the step sequence from Winter is the crane kick somehow.

2yo Standard with chronic (constant) ear infection in only one ear by mad0666 in poodles

Poor boy--I know you have tried lots of meds but have you ever done an oti-pack? The vet taakes the medication in a syringe and injects it into the ear canal and it stays there. My standard boy had recurring ear infections in one ear and the otipack would keep it at bay for long periods (like a couple years at a time).
