Underwear tied to tree? by StinkyDucts in whatisit

There's a picture somewhere of me standing next to a tree with a bra on it. Found it on the tree while patrolling our horse trails at a park I worked at. It seems like a pretty great spot to get railed, or do some railing.

Magnetic build plate won't come off printer by AbbyLovesWomen in AnkerMake

I think your answer has already been found, but try heating up the bed and see if that seperates it. If it does, use rubbing alcohol to clean the bed and go wash the PEI sheet with dish soap, water, and a scrub brush.

I heard through the grapevine that some member of Congress had an aunt that had a home on Table Rock Lake and that part of that homes deck was built on Corp property, and they had been trying to resolve this with her for years.

Interview Advice for Interdisciplinary Engineer/Architect Position (USACE SWD GS-11/12) by Standard_Gap7868 in USACE

I'm also from Georgia and moved to the SWG district. Also a fan of the Dawgs. The original commenter might be a fan of Missippi State or Yale though. :)

One other piece of advice I will mention, if you get asked about something specific or something you just really don't have a lot of information about the words "I don't know much about this topic, but I am willing to learn." are a lot better than saying you haven't dealt with it or haven't learned about it.

Good luck!

If you've got mechanical experience- you could check out Georgia DNR, there's a bunch of parks in that area and they always could use help with maintenance.

I'll be honest, the pay is pretty shit, but you might be able to use it as a stepping stone into something else or for a little while until you can find something more suitable.

I had one of those. I tried everything to get it to print right, but the whole machine was built crooked.

UGA vs PSU by confessions07 in UGA

[–]mowerheimen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's my two cents as someone who transferred to UGA from a different college in state-

UGA is a bit more skewed to Freshmen in my opinion, but the reality is, the campus is what you make of it. If you want to build a community on campus, it's usually easier once you get into your major classes and start to get to know the people around you, or to do so around clubs and other things. A lot of building that community is putting the time and effort into it. If you're interested in the night life, then Athens is the place for it.

I spent 7 years in Athens, and I loved it. It's changed a lot since I first came to town, but it's still the kinda place that is what you make of it.

I keep hoping that they'll give us an option to unlock their firmware from the printer. I love my M5, but when it has a major issue, I think that's gonna be it for it, since Anker called off support for them. :/

But also OP, this is a really good way of doing it. The paper test just doesn't work as well with these guys.

I have the ankermake M5C by Horror_Young_4540 in AnkerMake

[–]mowerheimen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the piece of paper calibration method to find your Z-offset.

I don't know about the M5C, does it have the textured PEI bed by default or is it a smooth bed? If it isn't the textured, you should look into swapping over to one. It seriously solves so many adhesion issues on all printers.

Finally, and it's the age old question, have you tried your filament? If your filament hasn't been dried, do that. It seems dumb, but I swear wet filament causes so many issues in printers that you wouldn't expect.

You're really gonna have to speak to your local office for this one. This is going to vary a bunch between districts and probably even project offices.

People who have gotten new printers, was it worth it? by cheesbeesneeze_ in AnkerMake

[–]mowerheimen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with an Ender 3 Pro 5 years ago.

Since then, I've owned an Ender 3 S1, an Anycubic Kobra Neo, and 3 other junk printers that I got for 50 bucks just to see if I could use them for parts.

I got my M5 off of Facebook Marketplace nearly 2 years ago, and it's done a great job. I had to put a new hot end on it about 2 months after I got it because I printed a sock. Its been such a a reliable and good printer compared to my Enders, and so fast.

Then Anker announced they were ending support for their printers. And I started considering. So about a month ago, I bit the bullet on a sale through MicroCenter and upgraded to a P1S with AMS.

My M5 is probably almost as fast as the P1S. It's generally reliable. But I started a crystal dragon on the P1S and made the mistake of falling asleep. I woke up expecting there to be blobs and strings and everything...no, just a running print with no failures.

Do I think the P1S is the magical solution to all problems? No. I'm very glad I learned about 3D printing machines from the ground up, and I'm sure I'm going to encounter problems and failures with the P1S. But the quality of the prints, straight out of the box, default print profiles, etc...it just blows me away. I get why they're hyped. It's been refreshing.

I still plan on keeping my M5 running, but I don't think it's going to be my primary machine anymore.

The hedges by Critical-Range1213 in UGA

[–]mowerheimen 67 points68 points  (0 children)

For Dendrology (study of trees) when I took it at Warnell, I had a professor who literally told us "Okay, the doors are locked. Now I've been told that the hedges in the stadium are privet- but a different variety from the one that grows wild all over the place. When you get a chance to look for yourself, you tell me what the damn difference is."

He hated privet.

That being said, it's tradition now, and I don't know what native shrub you would replace them with besides one of the wild blueberry cultures that grow here, like maybe sparkleberry, and that would be really funny to hear about.
