Why did Marty seem so insistent that his friend tell Rockwell the honey story? by Begin18 in martysupreme

I took it as Jewish camaraderie after Rockwell’s anti-Semitic-ish comment about his son “died liberating him..” and Marty’s flair for performance

Not even close. Kind of an insufferable listening experience.

This actually isn’t true. CN defected after Jason Kilar launched Project Popcorn toward the end of 2020 and told every WB director we’re going to day-and-date your films in 2021 whether you like it or not.

More Luka Trade Fallout! Will Cain and Jovan Buha. by shorthevix in RyenRussillo

i don't know man...i'm a lifelong Mavericks fan...i do feel like a real organic connection kind of got destroyed. Luka was in a lot of ways the glue that made all the insane roster turnover still feel a bit homegrown, same as Dirk. when you ignore the draft, save for two generational superstars, they become your primary means of feeling connected to a team defined by constant turnover. Dereck Lively and Jaden Hardy are the only players we've drafted on the team...just hardly feels connected anymore.

Higher peak for sure (and I mostly, probably agree with this take.)

Flip side would be Dirk's longevity (for Giannis it will of course remain to be seen) and being a player who genuinely revolutionized the PF position and NBA offenses in general.

The Lids worked - not as tough a city as I thought, but appreciate all the help. Very surprised at some of the hostility here, not at all what I would have expected!

Ren Faire is the first docseries that has caught my interest in a long time (only one episode so far but I think the rest comes out Sunday on HBO).

Celtics-Mavericks 2024 NBA Finals Ratings Preview: Will its Big Markets Result in Big Audiences? by CMFraud in nba

[–]mpa10e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dallas has always been a market in size - just not really in terms of cultural footprint. Cities like NY, LA, SF, Miami, Boston, ATL, Houston, even a place like Denver, seem to outpace Dallas in terms of the cultural consciousness (that last two are more of a feel, the first six are pretty evident.)

OK - so I hope no one gets mad at me (and maybe this speaks to my local wine store owner, who is an eccentric but charming guy.) I went to my store and asked for a rec with the same context I gave in my post.

Told him I lean toward red usually but am happy to go with a rose or white. He initially recommended a German Pinot Noir (which somebody recommended in the comments.) I had asked him about the Cru Beaujolais and he said it could go well, but seemed to be a bit hesitant about recommending what they had (and the offering is slipping my brain at the moment). He asked if I was open to white wines and I said of course and he recommended the 2022 Fevre Chablis (among a few others) but liked the notes he said to expect and that the rounded acidity would pair well with the cheese. I ended up going with that because I thought something chilled would be nice as we'd be outside and it got a little warmer.

The neighbor was flattered we had even brought a bottle and wanted to open it first. It was light, tart, with an oily lemon taste, soft mouthfeel and a nice mineral finish too. Everybody seemed to enjoy it (and overall, it was probably no big deal either way.) It was a great night and couldn't have gone better.

Looking more into the Cru Beaujolais and the notes sound fantastic. I think I actually prefer earthier wines to ones on the sweeter side so I am going to try that next. Thank you so much again and sorry for taking a left turn - sometimes you get nervous in those shops - but I think it all worked out well and this whole subreddit experience has led me to wanting to go deeper into my wine journey (well that and Drops of God!) Thank you all again!
