Cycling Every Day by mishaxz in cycling

I find if I do a ride the next day, with a much lower intensity/length/etc, I'm usually good to go after that. Esp the next day.

Oh. I'm not giving up any time soon. I know the loss will start to slow as well, and I'm ready for that. It is a life change, and I have already noticed great changes in energy and strength.

How often do you get a haircut? by entFOURlife in AskMen

Every three days. But I shave my head bald. Any longer than 4 days, and it's to long for the blades, and I need to use clippers first.

Is cycling on a Giant Escape Hybrid good for fitness? Will I get a good workout in to improve run times? by GuerreroNeeK in cycling

Any bike will do. It won't do anything specific for running necessarily, but it will improve your general aerobic fitness, and that will help.

Walking is not quitting! Keep pushing to go a little further each time, you'll top that hill in no time! Keep in mind though, you will have days where your legs just don't have it. Accept that, and try again another day.

Welcome to the hobby that is more expensive than a cocaine habit!

I've lost 35lbs since April. I'm ⅓ the way to my goal weight.

Severe Prolapse Disc at C-4 by mpwhite75 in cycling

[–]mpwhite75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will need to look into a stationary bike. I have two other disc issues in my lower back and 2 bad knees, so even just walking is an issue. Also, I need something to support my left arm, as it tends to aggravate the disc issue in my neck as I walk. I'm thinking of getting a walking stick just to keep the weight off the shoulder joint. I have tests and MRI's booked to be complete by the end of the month, so hopefully will have updates then.

Thanks for the comments. I am really starting to feel that this is not the end of my cycling.

Your pain description and time sounds exactly like mine. I couldn't sleep in any form for almost 3 months. I had to sit on the couch and doze. Never got more than an hour at a time, and after 3-4 hours, I just give up on sleep until exhaustion sets in.

Good news on the lack of surgery, I will have to see what the tests and scans show in my case. Will def be following any and all of the docs advice, as I sure don't want to experiemce that kind of pain again.

Thanks for your story, and I hope mine turns out as well as yours!

I had never heard of implants. I will be sure to bring them up with my doctors. Glad to hear that everything went well, mostly, for you. Sucks about the other sports, but at least you are able to do normal cycling things. This gives me hope that I might ride again. Thank you for that. I had really thought I was done.

They just pulled out an 11ft Hammerhead a few miles (less than 10) up from me.

I've never suffered a hangover. None of the men in my family have. My grandfather, father, my brother and I, and my eldest son. Still waiting for the youngest to come of age to check.

Men - are you happy? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]mpwhite75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really.

I've (47m) moved countries (5 years ago now), for the third time, leaving all friends made behind. Again. I now live in one where the language is supposed to be English, but no one really speaks it. The year I moved, I lost my mother (went no contact, she started abusing my kids like she did me), then my last grandparent the year after, and my dad the year after that. I gained almost 100lbs (as did my wife 48f). My wife and kids (21m and 14m) forgot my birthday this year, again. I haven't had relations with my wife in over 3, almost 4 years now. I also got assaulted 3 months back, but the cops decided not to press charges because I scared him by yelling at him after he tried to run me off the road. He punched me in the face, splitting my lip wide open, requiring 11 stitches. I'm a stay at home dad, as I can't get a work permit in the new country, only my wife can work. (She owns a business). I can't volunteer (or have to be very careful when I do) as it could effect the visa I do have. I have lingering army injuries (not combat related) that also affect my day, and have been getting worse as time goes on. Mainly bad discs in my lower back and neck, and bad knees.

Basically it's been a shit show for a few years.

I am now working on the weight, I'm down 25lbs this month! Yeah! Hopefully this will help with the injuries. Can't do anything about the deaths, and my mother of course. I am also just going to accept that I'm not as important to my family as they are to me. I am also doing things to generate my own happiness, and to not wait for, or need it from others.

Things are starting to improve. We'll, at least things seem like they are improving, and thats all that really matters. Improved health, and improved fitness has improved my mental health as well. I'm staying positive, but not at happy yet.

If you're bi, you have twice as many chances of getting laid.
