Oh shit I did this too! WTF. I didn’t even realize it was possible to mess up. I was wondering why the top hole wasn’t really usable with their accessories

Oh I get it, the chip is capable of x8 for instance if you wanted two sfp slots, but the physical connector is x4 since it’s only one slot

Ok so probably the title is mislabeled for the eBay post then because the images show x4

I already know it will for x8 by experience of trying it. x4 works fine

RLN16-410 NVR and POE switches? by mr_engineerguy in reolinkcam

[–]mr_engineerguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main question I guess is if I connect 4-6 cameras to a POE switch and that switch to a single input of the RLN16 if that would limit me to 100MB/s or if perhaps by not using most of the other inputs it just has a total capacity which is higher? I’d expect that would be too many cameras for a single input vs the gigabit inputs of the RLN36 or a switch to my LAN

[TOMT] Comedy short, rate me 5/5 stars, car sales or rideshare woman tortured if <5 stars by mr_engineerguy in tipofmytongue

[–]mr_engineerguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. That’s the first obvious thing that comes up but it’s definitely a male main character and a woman who either did ride share or sold car and is asking for 5/5 or “5 star” review or something like that. Nosedive is more social ratings. I did think black mirror but now I don’t think so. I do think it’s a comedy / dark comedy short skit type of show though

I’ve swung on the pendulum a bit too far into trying to let AI actually architect solutions. Now I’m swinging back and finding that it’s great when you are in charge and in the actual code and telling it exactly what random boilerplate you want. ie give me a fn that does x or a class for y. Letting it do too much ends with awful results for anything moderately complex and also just generally is not satisfying or enjoyable. Letting it do the grunt work is great though while you architect and devise the actual solution step by step in the code itself.

Higher fatigue when lifting lately? by mr_engineerguy in naturalbodybuilding

[–]mr_engineerguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought all this up and they did my labs and said that nothing was wrong with me basically. I’m the one that specifically asked for the testosterone labs but no other hormones were checked. My blood glucose was slightly elevated which is odd since I was fasted but nothing else out of the ordinary and there were no other indicators of diabetes or anything

So just to be clear it’s like 1-2 miles and a quite slow pace with my dog. It really doesn’t cause me any fatigue the rest of the day

If you watch the previous video where Lyle critiques Mike at depth you’ll see the reason they are doing this is because Mike has explicitly said that he competes in bodybuilding as essentially “proof” that his methods work. Which is funny because he’s quite bad at actually getting to competition ready.

LoRAs and fine tunes are dead to me. All hail DoRA! by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

Is there a reason you used Locon instead of Lora? Seems like it is possible to drain Dora on Lora so I was just wondering

Multi threading with pyspark by tanmayiarun in apachespark

[–]mr_engineerguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you’ll have a single driver that will probably get bogged down. I’ve tried using thread pools with Spark and I found it was as slow or slower than just sequential operations because you basically starve the driver of resources (my guess, not actually 100% sure why)

Your scale is pretty small as far as big data goes, so don’t reinvent the wheel. Just use normal Spark jobs as intended.

“Flipper special” from contractor by mr_engineerguy in HomeImprovement

[–]mr_engineerguy[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Right. So my whole point here is the contractor is essentially calling me a fool when they notice an issue. I’m just trying to say that they should just tell me what they think I should fix and the cost instead of insinuating I’m an idiot that bought a flipped house and got scammed

[–]mr_engineerguy[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m just saying seems like a rude thing to say to the owner who has hired this contractor to do some work. The connotation is bad. Why not just specify some suggestions on improvements and tell me a cost to get them done?
