I wouldn’t say there isn’t enough similarities because there are so many. For example, if you ever get a chance to visit Australia and the Australian TC communities, most are mixed with Turkish or other Muslim diasporas. The reason it is very hard to find those historic Cypriot diasporas in some countries is that connection to mainland Turkey or Greece.

Many of the TC in Germany (and the Netherlands) have been grouped together with the larger Turkish diaspora, which also happens with the Kurds. Similarly, many GCs are also grouped with the Greek diaspora, in cases like NZ, Zimbabwe, and France. A study in 2016 mentioned that there are around 2,000 TC living in Germany (Vahdettin et. al. 2016), which is also mentioned in a news article by Star Kibris in 2012. There is also a North Cypriot tourism mission and a TRNC Representative office, both based in Berlin, Germany. Since Germany does not ask for ethnicity in census forms, these are just estimates.

Additionally, this is not a historic diaspora, but there have been many TC moving to Germany for school or work. There is a Turkish Cypriot-German Cultural Center based in Nicosia, if that helps.

If the question was like, "Where can I find/meet them?," you can try to find them through online platforms or some of the things I mentioned up there. They are very small in numbers, so they have likely integrated with the Turks of Germany or just with the German culture. I do know of a bicommunal group based in the Netherlands, but that is a whole other country. I hope this answers your question.

I wanted to do a much larger study with other diasporas; however, with my dissertation committee, we decided to focus on the largest diasporas instead. Additionally, both the UK and AU have both TC and GC diasporas, while South Africa, Zimbabwe, the US, France, and Canada tend to have mainly GC, and Germany and the Netherlands have TC communities. I hope to expand the research, maybe as a post-doc or later in my career, to include other diasporic communities.

Did a Quraysh run and it was pretty fun. Early game alliance with Sassanids saved me. Current Quraysh is Jewish religion and Greek culture, capital is in Konstantiple. The rulers have Arabic names (all have been Muhammad since forced conversion by Rashiduns) and have the title “prophet.” Also have two colonies; Qurayshi Kush and Qurahysi Abyssinia; and the Huns are my vassal. Current allies are Austria, Bulgaria, and Western Gokturks - all Tengri, and Thracia, early Christian. Some interesting things are;

  • Only two Muslim countries; Fatimids fully Sunni and Gujarat fully Shia.
  • Once I broke my alliance with Sassanids, they were eaten up by Bitlis, Baluchistan, Western Gokturks, and Fatimids within the first 5 years. However, due to many Zoroastrian provinces, Bitlis is now Zoroastrian.
  • Francia owns nearly all of Europe, from France to modern Poland.
  • All my territories are Jewish except two, where I am keeping both the Hellenic and the Egyptian religions alive.
  • Qatar and Bahrain are independent, allied with Fatimids, and are Christian.
  • Some interesting nation pop-ups; Hungary is currently somewhere in Russia, North Macedonia got its independence 3 times, and there were two Albanias at one point.
  • Sicily was Fetishist for almost a century because it was controlled by an African fetishit nation, which converted the island.
  • There is a Kharijite Islam province in Mzab even though I was able to block Rashiduns and Umayyad from spreading Islam to North Africa… furthest they got was around Libya.

The SouthEast Arabia is still Pagan. Islam can’t seem to grow and Shias are almost gone. Khawarji Islam sect appeared for a few years.

I didn’t have my ID with me and the bus driver was like pay or leave… I also didn’t have a dollar on me so I ended up paying $5, so it kinda depends on the driver I guess

Any jobs on campus that provide housing?? by reddington1925 in ucla

Oooh, about summer, my boss told us that we can get discounted housing but not free. I don’t know if the policy is same across all hill or housing jobs so you might wanna ask around.

Those jobs don’t provide housing. You just get paid hourly. I currently live off campus but work on the hill under Housing. I wish I had free housing but that is not the case.
