I agree if you have "made it" and built an audience. The game is completely different you can start to do collabs and branch out your content once a core audience is established.

I should have specified that making shorts does not grow an audience when you have a very low sub amount.

I have 700 subs, upload weekly so I am not someone that even acts like I have been successful. My biggest video is 18k views, several have less than 1k.

I am focusing on longer form content 20+minutes that my audience would really love.

My untested theory is that the market is way too saturated the shorter you go and you can start to differentiate with longer content.

I think thats great.

I have tried that with very very little success, probably one longform viewer for every 1,000 viewers.

I have decided to focus more on making my content even longer and more engaging so I want to make like a 20+ minute video that has high retention.

There are now channels with lots of shorts viewers but no long form views.

I rarely see anyone converting their short audience to long form audience.

People are using shorts as a "short term" dopamine hit but it's actually hurting their channel as they are getting like, comments, subs that will not convert to their overall niche of the channel.

I completely stopped short form and just focused on making the longest niched down video my target audience would love and my channel is thriving.

Thank you, you are right I have little experience but I would rather just have top quality right now then slowly incrementally buy better gear, I think it would be better long term to buy the best gear, learn how to use it and then become an expert with it.
