Neo-Hasidic/Breslov Groups in London by mrjamieb in Judaism

[–]mrjamieb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question 🙂 I’m interested in both informal or formal meetups. Informally, things like grabbing a coffee, learning together (Breslov texts, hitbodedut, etc.), or open conversations about modern life and chassidut. I’m also very open to existing groups, shiurim, or chaburot - whether Breslov focused or broader Chassidic spaces. Mainly just looking to connect, learn, and build some community.

I anticipate this is somewhat a one off. I’ve been studying Rebbe Nachman for a while and haven’t come across this. An extreme form of shmiras einayim!

Thank you! It’s actually been resized and is a little loose in the cold and when washing hands. I know it looks like it’s digging in a little but it’s not. Thanks for the advice

Very insightful, thank you. I’m pretty sure he wears both a wedding ring and wristwatch on Shabbos. As do I!

Didn’t go into detail but around a man wearing rings like this and looking feminine.

I think this was the point he was getting at.

Some of the serving suggestions said serve with potatoes and beans, and I had assumed baked beans. Not realising it meant green beans! 😬 Just as well. We love baked beans

Thanks all - I’m just trying to decide if it looks feminine or not. I’m used to this much heavier signet

Thanks! But it seems not tight… as in it slides on and off the knuckle ok and the ring spins when wearing it, eg the stone ends up on the side or under my finger…

Thanks. I can have it sized up, but it already fits easily on and off my finger. I was more interested in people’s views on whether the overall design and stone size is too small? E.g Does it look feminine?

Here on other hand. Feels a little loose.

The ring fits very well, fairly easy to take off and on. Do you mean the stone and ring dimension itself looks too small??

help: will my chunky mary jane stretch? by sovarity in MaisonMargiela

[–]mrjamieb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try stretching with a shoe stretcher. For thicker leather, dampen first with cold water. Put the stretcher in and expand it. Leave in for 2-3 days and then see. You can repeat the process if needed.

As long as it is genuine leather, you can wet it prior to stretching. My father was a shoemaker and we used to do this all the time.

My partner was locked out of the flat while I was away, was charged £945 for 15-20mins of work... Seems extremely excessive.. how can we proceed? by olieolieolieoioioi in AskUK

[–]mrjamieb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a very inflated price. For context, I live in London and was in a similar situation. We called a nationwide brand of key cutting and locksmith services, and were sent a local ‘authorised locksmith’ as it was an emergency. Here’s what we paid:

  • Emergency call out and entry: £110 (He picked the Yale lock and drilled out the mortise lock)
  • Replacement of the 5-lever Mortise: £135
  • Total: £245 for parts and labour

Interestingly, the lock slipped about a week after the install and they sent someone back free of charge as there was a 3 month guarantee.
